Forums - Sony - Epic to Announce PS3 Exclusive

Why are people saying this won't happen?
Microsoft doesn't own Epic, they can do whatever they want.

The Xbox 360 has a higher userbase, Microsoft is more willing to pour in a lot of advertising and the differences between a PS3 and Xbox 360 game in terms of result are marginal so they have more incentive to give this hypothetical game to the 360 than PS3.

So the PS3 should get no 3rd party exclusives....and the 360 should get all of them, is what you're trying to say?

OT: More refined than the Unreal Engine in Gears 2? Ouch. That's the 360s most graphically intensive game and it's already getting usurped by the PS3...again

Not definitly.

It took a more refined UE to match the 360's UE.

The game could end up looking just as good as gears or possibly even worse.

Keep in mind the UE in both 360 and PS3 were equal... but developers were struggling in PS3 development so Epic had to refine their engine more.

Then Gears 2 came up with an upgraded 360 UE.

This game could just be to bring things back to even.

cool this seems rather unlikely but if it does happen its a good thing for PS3 owners and im sure 360 owners will be jealous.

I know it's pretty apparent that UE doesn't mesh too well with the PS3, but Epic didn't seem to have any trouble using it for UT3. Those other devs using it as middleware are irrelevant in this situation since once again, Epic is making the game. Now if you're saying that everytime a UE3 game comes out on the 360, a UE3.4 version has to be on the PS3 to match performance....well, I don't know where you got your information from

How many notable 3rd party exclusives for the PS3 do not come out of Japan? I can't really think of at all that many.

UE3 was the game that was used to create the "updates" for the PS3 engine.

Just how Gears was the game that was used to create the 360 updates. (Hence the Silicon Knights lawsuit.)

UE3 works better for PS3 now because of the work put into it from making UE3.

UE3 is what pushed the engine to Pre-gears 2 status.

hmm can this be real and exclusive

LOCUSTS OF WAR

Set in the GEow Universe, from the Locusts perspective. hmmmmmmmmmm...whatever it is (if it even exists) I'm sure will be a TPS with cover system in the same mold as Gears.

They want to show of the UE 3 again, like they did with the UT 3 exclusivity last year

Thats probably the most plausible explanation, the games are also a technology demo as well. Though in saying that, they would also want to prove that its easy to create a multi-platform game with UE3 so theres also that to consider as well as their engine is used more for multi-platform games than exclusives which are more likely to have custom made engines.
