Forums - Microsoft - What do you want from the XBOX 720?

No motion controls please. Nintendo can have their little fun with it but microsoft needs to ditch that idea and FAST.

They need 1080p standard games. They need a silent console that is sleek in design that has Wifi integrated into it. What they need right now is a new Franchise as well to be the "Idol" of Xbox...Master Chief can only go so far.

I think what they need at launch is what Sony did (even though most people didn't like it, I did). They need BRAND NEW games that can start NEW franchises (Resistance, Motorstorm), but also release huge games like Gears 3, Halo 4, Fable 3 and more subsequently AFTER the new IP's are in the shuffle.

Here's how they should release it. Release the next Xbox in late August/early september with the NEW IP's available AT LAUNCH. Then, have Halo 4 be released early december so not only does it make it in time for the x-mas rush...but it also gives time for the user base to get somewhat of growth at the beginning AND it gives customers something to do before Halo 4 comes out with the NEW GAMES. Then the momentum of Christmas just launches it out into the world.

Then, after Halo 4 is released....four months later they time Gears 3 to keep that momentum...then 3-4 months later again have Fable 3 comes out. Then, after that, the demand of the new xbox will be so high with NEW franchises and HUGE sequels, gamers will be drooling for an xbox if they're available. Then after they come with not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 punches, the next holiday season is right around the corner and then microsoft makes the second holiday season the time for ALL BRAND NEW GAMES and a couple sequels, but not too many so the new games can find their footing.

I think that's a great launch plan. What Microsoft needs right now are more hit franchises to even try and compare with what Sony has.

One thing that Sony knows how to do is create an AMAZING library of games for each of it's consoles.

I don't think anyone wants to do what Sony did.

I don't think Microsoft is really at all that jealous about RFOM.

Err, they don't need to. The games they bought are more effective so far than anything Sony has made. Gears of War and Oblivion exclusivity were both huge slaps in the face of the PS3 launch.

No, Nintendo knows how to create an amazing library. You see it every week in the top 10.

Please, no motion controls. I will not buy a "720" if you have to use motion controls. Even if you have the option to play games with a regular controller, but it's obvious the games are built around motion controls; I won't buy a "720"

What I do want:

- Reliability

- Some more exclusives. They have Halo, Gears, Fable, Mass Effect and Forza. Those are all nice but nothing compared to what Sony has.

- I want either free online, or significantly improved online. At first XBL was way ahead of PSN, but now they're pretty near equal and PSN is still free. If they can't offer better online than PSN then they better not charge for it.

- The graphics should be improved, and the console more powerful. But nothing like the leap Sony took from Playstation 2 to Playstation 3.

This!! Oh and Dedicated Servers on xbox live

Long Live SHIO!

Errr......of course Oblivion was exclusive to the 360 when it came out in MARCH 2006, the PS3 wasn't out yet. Oblivion launched on PS3 in March 2007, basically a launch title in NA and launched in April 2007 in Europe, a mere month after the PS3's launch there. What are you going on about....?

And, IMO, Sony DOES know how, and has, an amazing library of games. You should use Metacritic (a site YOU often mention) and see what the critics think

Since this is a 360 thread, however, I won't contribute to derailing it further.

Errrm....Timed Exclusive?

I thought we had denouced Metagritic?.....

Arrg Now we are using it again?

Whoops. I had thought it came out mid/late 2007 and I based it on complaints that they had moneyhatted Oblivion. But in any case I don't doubt that Sony has the ability to make games the hardcore users of the PS3 love, or claim that Microsoft is hugely better. What I was saying was that they haven't been successful thus far in creating a game which resonates with a wide userbase ala system sellers. The only difference is that Microsoft was able to get a big system selling exclusive out there far sooner than Sony was able to. Especially considering that the PS3 was set for an early 2006 release and was delayed 6 months.

Tease.

Also:

- It should be silent while running
- It shouldn't ever scratch disks
- It should be powerful enough to run games at 1080p with 60FPS easily
- The online should have no lag whatsoever

More incredible games & a sexy design. and I'm sold.

What do you think of the current X360 design?
(and compared to PS3)

I like it, prefer it the best out of the big 3. PS3 is too bulky for my liking.
