Damn, im not very clued in on MMO's then.

I would say they were successful. You would have to be to have your game last 10 years and have that many expansions

Everquest was the game that made MMO's popular, hell yeah! they were successful

Big list. Are they all free?

If so isn't it about time Sony started charging fees to give them a boost, nomatter how little it may be financially?

Uh, guys, not to burst anyone's bubble, but there are a host of free MMOs with larger install bases than WoW has.

This is, of course, because anyone who has ever signed up for the game and thought, "Eh, I'll give it a shot I guess, it's free" can be counted as a subscriber. Forever. Club Penguin has tens of millions of "subscribers," for example.

I haven't played this game, so I can't say whether it's good or not. I'm just making sure people have this in perspective -- 2 million for a free-to-play is a very different animal than 12 million paying subscribers, both statistically and economically.

Very true. I do look on this more positively though, I see it as Sony's first step into the MMO segment, and that can only be good

What!? Have you ever heard of a game called Everquest?

Had to change my sig to get some moderator to quit bitching about it......

Can you play this on your PS3?

Yeah, but I'd say that considering how it hasn't even been a month since the game was released that there's still a significant amount of players actually playing the game. It's a pretty impressive achievement for such a short amout of time, I think. There is at least one account that's inactive though. I gave up on it because the controls were bothering me for some reason. I'll wait for the PS3 version to see if I want to keep playing or not.

No, there not free. The expansions (most of them at least) are boxed and can be bought in the store. The game still charges a monthly fee ($15? its been years since i last played) to play it.
