I'm going to say it right now BEST GAME EVER. Its been said, watch the video if you don't think i'm telling the truth.

You really got that from that video?  There were several points where they docked the game so I don't think this review is the best review to hold up as a reason its the best game ever.  Keep trying though

On topic:  Very good review, they covered a bunch of different aspects you don't normally see in reviews but that is to be expected here. I was glad to see they didn't pull any punches like I am expecting some reviewers to do. Ultimately from everything I saw I thought their detailed score was very spot on, but I will have to play the game before I decide what I think of it for sure.  Although I will say that before I saw their score I was thinking they were going to give a 9.6, then they gave it a 9.8 which is pretty close...but on a second look their own detailed score does add up to 9.6 so I am pretty confident in my impressions thus far.

Halo 2 got much better reviews then it deserved, I'll have to try this out to see if the same has occured with this installment, or if it really has improved.

I found fault in both of the original Halo games, outdated graphics (particularly models) overlong and repetitive elements mainly in Halo and Halo 2 had glitchy graphics.

Having said that playing the games we and are a great experience. The sound and music is amongst the best providing a great atmosphere. Halo 3 certainly looks set to improve on most things if not being a groundbreaking or technological feat.

Its game world, rules and behaviors seem to be well preserved and improved where necessary, online co-op should be awesome!!!

I will get a 360 for this game!

Oh boy, this game looks epic. Anything else like graphics or gameplay is debatable, but this made is just so damn epic.

Luckily I've got a rich friend who owns a 360, and is getting this on launch day. Can't wait to play co-op with him for an outrageous amount of unspecified favors. =P

I find it quite odd that the reviewer had all these damning things to say about the game, and then goes and gives it a near perfect score...

HALO 3:

‘While the story doesn't transcend the genre, it is some pretty engrossing stuff’

‘There just aren't a lot of groundbreaking gameplay elements, turrets and shields have been a part of pc shooters for almost a decade, and this is one area where the Halo series is still playing catch up’

‘You get all the staples of the series, but there's nothing trailblazing’

‘The gameplay in halo 3 can't exactly be considered combat evolved, more like combat refined’

‘More boss battles would have been nice’

‘The first 2 halos set technical benchmarks on the consoles, but this is one area where halo 3 will be a disappointment for some. It’s definitely not the best looking console game on the market, or even it's platform’

‘The real sore spot is the character modeling. They simply don't look as good as you'd expect.’

Then it's given a 9.8.

Does anyone else find this passing strange?

No. It's common for many reviews, and if you've ever watched another GT video review...the video and various compliments speak for themselves...it's best to cram in complaints and criticisms to let people know what's wrong with the game.

You notice the bad things more than the good, too...I'm sure he said more good things than bad overall.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

you have some real issues with Halo dont you Dallinor i saw your comment in the halo 2 game ranking thing, that was rediculas.

The game is not the best ever, but to call the people who play it mindless............ seriously.............

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

I was expressing my opinion. You will also notice two people praised my words.

Re-read what I wrote, I did not call the people who play the game mindless, but the game itself a "mindless shooter".

Yes absolutely, he had plenty of good things to say aswell.

But, for a game that scores a 9.8 which means it's touching perfect, you would not expect to be hearing those sort of criticisms.

For GT reviews (although I think they are the best around), the tone and dialogue of the reviewer rarely seems to match the final score given.

Also the story got a 9.5.

The highest I've ever seen given for the story in any GT review.

That's a higher score for the story then Bioshock, or even The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Which I thought were mostly plot-driven games.

Astonishing really.
