Forums - Sales - UFC Undisputed sales = unbelievable.

So much for MMA being a niche market.

So far, it's debut has eclipsed that of Fight Night Round 3's by a mile (this is an amazing feat, since the popularity of MMA is still regarded as nothing compared to boxing). Extremely impressive for a sport that is still in it's infancy stages. Just shows that if you make a good game, you're bound to be rewarded for it.

On a side note, congratulations to Lyoto Machida.

I was surprised as well. The game kicks ass and deserves every sale it gets.

Great sales for a great game. It brings a smile to my face.

MMA is not a niche market, and the game is not selling because it's good. Its selling because UFC is a HUGE franchise and hasnt had any video games released since the TUF boom.

UFC regularly DESTROYS boxing in PPV numbers AND is broadcasted to millions on Spike as well.

Since when was this game good?

And when has it been proven that good games succeed?

If anything this game shows that you can make a decent game (solid gameplay with good graphics for fighters and crap everything else) and attach it to a brand, it'll sell.

Exactly. and to be honest, the graphics are not even that good. They are about equal to FNR3 which came out a looong time ago.

Wow, people who are saying this game isn't good, have you even played it?

I'm not even necessarily into MMA and this game is definitely good. For someone who actually likes MMA it's like a wet dream come true. I'm not at all surprised by these sales, it's a good game and it's based on a sport that hasn't gotten any games before.

ufc regularly beats boxing in ppv?

you better check your numbers again son. the last manny pacquiao fight brought in 1.6 million ppvs. de la hoya's last fight with him (wherein he looked like shit) took in a further 1.3 million ppvs.

ufc struggles to make a million. in fact, it's biggest fight in recent memory was the randy vs. brock fight, which generated around 950k buys. the others are usually around 300-400k.

ufc IS a niche market. it's growing, sure, but it still hasn't quite hit the mainstream yet. GSP is the first person to actually have mass marketing attached to him (big contract with Gatorade).

and to put boxing's power into perspective:

de la hoya's fight with mayweather brought in 120 million dollars worth of ppv buys. that's almost a year's worth of ufc ppvs.

You are WRONG.

Boxing has maybe 1 or 2 big PPVs a year. UFC has atleast 12 PPVs, plus a weekly reality show, plus a preview show for all there PPVs, plus WAYYY more sponsors than any boxing promotion, plus Ultimate Fight Nights...

sign up at sherdog.com or boxing-scene.com and ask them what sport is making more money these days. Everyone will call you a noob and tell you UFC is DESTROYING boxing. Make sure you post the link so I can see it too.

Lol at the people saying mma is getting bigger numbers at ppv than boxing. Games decent but why is every fighter orthodox? Mirko and Rich were southpaws last I checked. Thats like EA making Giggs right footed in Fifa

Ynwa.
