Forums - Microsoft - Zune HD: Who will be buying?

like I said it looks great, but I'm getting an Ipod Touch. I bought an adapter for my radio for $7 before Circuit City closed down and I'll be damned if I wasted my money.

What kind of price point are we looking at?  I read somewhere that the screen is OLED, still a pricey tech at this point.

I really dislike picking up the newest, most badass tech right away as it usually decreases in value drastically within the first 6 months after release.  That said, I may pick one up if the price is reasonable.

I would be willing to bet we will see this launch with the same price points as the ipod touch.

As for newest gadgets i agree with you the value decreases and there are usually alot of bugs with the newest of the new but im gonna bite the bullet (assuming the Zune HD delivers) and buy it day 1. Infact ill wait inline and get it at midnight. Hopefully M$ show the Zune HD at E3. Theres so many questions i have

I agree netflix would be AWESOME! but the video marketplace content for rent or own would be a great step forward in and of itself. And people say M$ dosnt innovate. As for buttons they find a way to make virtual buttons or sell an addon controller that plugs into the port on bottom and use that. OR use a wireless 360 controller :) now that would be cool

Since last spring, M$ has been dropping ALOT of money...to the tune of several hundred million dollars into this and also into the OS for mobile devices.  6.5 is the latest step in that direction, but 7.0 is REALLY when M$ will unveil its response to the Iphone/Ipod Touch developments.  EDD has been spending alot of funds over the past year and a half, and many just looked at the surface numbers to say 360 was still losing money, but really, it was M$ spending alot of money to develop these new OS.  It's certainly no slam dunk for M$ to succeed...but people need to keep in mind that if you're a developer, and programming for Windows Mobile 7, is similar to programming for Windows &, is similar to programming for Nexbox...guess what...

i agree this is a smart move for M$ to make. This is the closest were gonna get to an xbox portable and it will be cost effective for developers because programming with XNA and XBLA will allow them to launch on 4 platforms!!! The PC, the xbox, the mobile phone, and the Zune HD. M$ is very clever, much more clever than they are given credit for

Well at least you know for sure you want one.  I'm on the fence until I see some specs and pricing.  That might be a handy thing to put in your OP; a link to some technical specifications to help us less informed folk out.

Or are the technical specs available at this point?  I'm definitely curious, but I'll probably wait to see how it reviews.

I'd be more willing to buy one if microsoft had stores like apple and I could actually play with the product a little bit. I plan to buy either an ipod touch or zune hd this winter but if there is no way for me to actually touch and try the zune myself, I wont be buying one.

i cannot seem to find the tech specs i will post them in this thread as soon as they become available. But we know it has a 3.3 inch OLED touch screen with a 480x272 resolution and with a seperate dock it can play HD video content at 720P.

Well it definitely sounds like it will be a nice screen.  That OLED is impressive stuff.

So far so good!  Now we just need some info on HD size and battery life.

i agree this should and will have to be an impressive device if M$ wants to take on apple. In all honesty i think the size and battery life will be fairly equal to that of the ipod touch
