Forums - General Discussion - Hi-def movies!

So, do you own a ps3?  The HD DVD 360 add-on? A standalone player for either format?  If so, post what movies you own for each format!

Note: All mine are Blu-Ray...

Own:

Talladeg Nights (Came free with my ps3.  Would I pay for it?  Hell no.)
Kingdom of Heaven (big battles, woo!)
Underworld: Evolution
Underworld (on pre-order, ships Monday)

Want:

Lord of the Rings: Extended Editions
Basically anything with big ass war scenes...Braveheart, 300, etc.
Transformers
Harry Potters

Of course, I rarely by movies, so most of those on my want list will never be bought, at least not for a while. However, I'm an avid LotR fan, and the 3 extended editions will be pre-ordered the moment they are announced. :P

I have:

Blu-ray(PS3):
-Talladega Nights (came with PS3, have never watched it)
-X-Men 3 (bought it to see what blu-ray can do-impressive effects, crappy movie)

HD-DVD(currently no player, used to have HD-DVD add-on before I sold my 360 last Jan)
-Serenity*
-Batman Begins
(I'll probably buy an HD-DVD add-on for my PC eventually, since it's attached to my HT)

I want (when they are released):
Lord of the Rings extended editions
Star Wars 4, 5, and 6

when I have the extra cash (not all are released yet): all 3 pirates movies (blu-ray), Planet Earth, possibly the Harry Potters and Narnia.

 *-is awesome

I forgot about PotC. Add those to me list of wants.

Heheh...me too.  It won't matter if my cash reserves are low at the time - I've gotta have those movies in hi-def!

Hell yeah! m/

What format would you buy them on, being neutral?

Do you think they'll fit on one HD DVD disc? They had to cut lossless audio from King Kong because of disc space, and the EE's are even longer, meaning they'd have to cut even more to keep it on one disc. Having to swap discs haflway through the SDVD version always bugged me, so if they were announced on two HD DVDs, I'ddefinitely choose the BD-rom version. Aside from that, the extra features would probably sway me towards the HD DVD side.  Of course, that's assuming I had an HD DVD player and could make the choice. :P

Btw, do you use a keyboard with your ps3?  If not, how long did it take you to make that post?

I have, none. I eventually will get a PS3... but even then I don't see the point in buying what few movies i do in Blu-ray.

I've never seen a movie where i thought "This movie would be better if it was more sharpy defined." So paying extra for it is pointless for me. I don't see buying any movies or TV shows in Blu-ray until Blu-ray is the only option to buy them in... or as cheap as DVDs.

Blu-Rays on Amazon are almost as cheap as DVDs in-store.  Many are as cheap as $17.95. Considering the fact that I buy most of my CDs online already (you'll never find the stuff I listen to in a store), 'll occasionally tack on a movie as well.

Also, you obviously haven't seen an HD movie running in 1080p.  It looks amazing!  Easily worth  the extra couple of bucks from Amazon, imo.

My priorities in order are:

1)must be extended edition

2)video codec used (they'll probably be the same)

3)audio tracks used (could be different)

4)most extras included

5)all on one disk

6)price
