Forums - Nintendo - VC controls

Hey guys,

I just wanted to know 2 things about the VC controls :

1. Is it  possible to change the controls configuration on VC Games ? I just bought Donkey Kong Country 2, which is my first VC game, and tried with  my good old Gamecube pad. But the default controls are so ATROCIOUS  ! I guess I could get the Classic Controller but it's like 25 $ each which is far too much expensive IMO

2. I'm sure some of you have bought Majora's Mask and I wanted to know if the controls are good with the Gamecube pad... Is it like Wind Waker and Twilight Princess ? I would be glad...

1. no. Unfortunately the games on VC are exactly as is, no new features. I would recommend you buy a classic controller for SNES, Genesis, etc games. btw, classic controller is only $20 new and probably cheaper on ebay.

2. I haven't played any N64 games on VC, so I couldn't comment.

1. No. By the way an adapter is being made so you can use N64, SNES, and NES controllers on your Wii when you play VC games, so look for that.

2. Yes it's like Wind Waker/Twilight Princess. I recommend getting Majora's Mask right away.

i'll just answer two

2.yes, it's a lot like ww controls. only real difference, the game would let you set items to three of the c buttons [left right down], and on the gamecube controller it's the c stick, so it's kind of annoying because you'll occationally use the wrong item. thankfully, two of the items can apparently be used by the x and y buttons [like ww], so you should feel right at home.

come try out the computer game i've been working on for my high school senior project, titled sling ball. http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=76669&page=1

you can view a few screenshots from the game in my photo album here; http://www.vgchartz.com/photos/album.php?album=2312

yes, this is vonboy's alt account. i can't log into my original account, and i'm not sure if i will ever be able to.

I had the same problem the other day after downloading DKC and having no other controller options and no money to buy a classic controller at the moment i adapted.

I used the index and middle fingers on my right hand for jump and run/grab respectively. It's not terribly comfortable but it's amazing how quickly you adapt and i knocked the game over in just a touch over three hours : )

Ok, thank you ! That's what I was thinking but I wanted to be really sure, because here in Canada, a new controller is really 25 $. So two of them cost like a new game.

Yep I tried it instinctively yesterday when I bought it. I'm seeking the pure experience, the same gameplay that if I would have bought it on my SNES.

Thank you a lot everyone who has answered ! I just wanted to be sure before purchasing anything !
