I use 2 pairs of UNiROSS HYBRIO recharchables. And they are awesome.
I have other rechargable batteries, but they slowly lose charge even when not in use, and generally won't have as good of a life anyway.
With these when the remote runs low, I take them out and put them on to charge, taking the others out of the charger. So the ones that have just run out charge up in 3 or so hours, but the charger has a cut off feature so I justleave them there until the others run out again.
With standard recharchables I find that the leaving them there bit means they don't last as long when it comes to use them, so I need to have charged them recently before putting them in (which requires forethought).
Oh, and they are 2100MaH, and last a decent amount of time in the remote. Obviously depending on what I am doing... so battery draining games like LoZ:TP I might get about 20 hours (with non-chargeable batteries I would get about 30 hours for that game)
I can't really compare any other games to standard alkaline battery life as I stopped using them pretty soon into my Wii purchase.
