Forums - Gaming - DualShock 3 Rumble Capability Identical To DualShock 2

So why would I buy a PS3 now, if there is going to a price cut and super terrific rumble controllers next year? Is Sony purposely trying to sabotage its own holiday sales?

so does the xbox360 take advantage of this "stereo rumble" since ps2 and xbox 360 should have the same rumble technology?

 yea.. its the same rumble..

you missed my point....

1 up is saying that rumble on DS3 felt next gen, now we know its cause of the way its implemented by konami.
Viper said developers didnt implement it on the ps2 because of 3rd party controllers(which doesnt make much sense). now im asking if Xbox360 developers did "stereo rumble" before?

that's unfortunate, with the load of cash sony dumped on immersion, i was expecting touchsense... i wonder why it's not? i think i'll wait till i can get my hands on a touchsense controller. anyways, i blame bods =()

I still think this is a good thing. Even if 1up was wrong about the new tech... it still sounds like MGS4 will put the rumbling to amazing use. That's worth being excited about, imo!

Weird i tought the rumbe and sixaxis were incompatible.

Oh well, probably Sony will start selling a 80GB without rumble and a 120GB with rumble pack.

I just wonder if they will let users send in their controllers to have them replaced with new ones. After all, it is a feature that should have been implemented long time ago. (maybe before microsoft took a big part in immersion so they wouldn't be financing their rivals now)

But hey, the marketshare of the PS3 is dropping down and soon it will hit 15% aka the position that indicates that no-one really cares any more about you.

This is unfortunate, Sony is going to be stuck with another hand number. They were just fine without rumble to begin with and with all that money Sony had to pay out to Immersion (90 million) they're stuck with this. I'd be pissed.

Oh my god!!

FIRST you guys are WHINING ABOUT RUMBLE

The reason they're whining is because Sony said made excuses for the lack of rumble.  Stating that it was last gen or it would interfere with the motion controls.  Now they are bringing that same last gen tech to their controller with motion controls.

As for 1up and MGS4, while I haven't gotten my hands on the DS3, I'd wager they've just forgotten that both the DS1 and DS2 had motors in each stick and they were independent of each other.  If memory serves, the DS1 had a weaker motor in the right stick, but the DS2 has identical motors in each.  I do recall playing games in which only one motor would be spinning, causing only one side of the controller to vibrate, but I can't remember and particular games at the moment.  So I'm sure developers have utilized the indepent motors in the past, but perhaps Konami is pushing it further than before.

Anyway, bringing back rumble is great in my opinion.  While it can just be annoying in some games, it can also add a lot to others and it's better to have the option than not.  I just hope they don't jump to touch sense controllers in a couple years.  While it may be more immersive I'd hate to have to continually upgarde my controller, lol.

@Linkzmax

Then what did you excpect SONY to say

"Oh sorrry guys, but we were sued by immersion, don't worry we'll sort this out n then release the controller later"

Thats a bit stupid isn't it, cus no-one would buy xtra controllers
