They didn't, sony barely got it out to them in time for TGS listen to upyours they talk about it with the MGS producer.  Not all MGS4 deno stations even had rumble.  It not anything crazy new neither is it ecaxly like the old one. 

Yeah, I just checked the 1up site. They were amazed by the DS3's multiple motors. They raved about how new and awesome it is, and said: "It's like rumble in stereo."

I'm sure they'll put rumble to lots of good uses this generation, but the fact that the 1up reviewers were absolutely convinced that the Dual Shock 3 is improved, better technology, when it is in fact the same technology we've had for almost a decade now, is pretty funny.

Hey guys, don't be so hard on 1up... I mean, it's 1up! Is like the Electronic Arts of game sites.

It's good for the PS3 to have rumble back, even when it's the exact same rumble as before. I've like rumble since it was introduced, I even bought the Rumble Pack for the N64. 

so does the xbox360 take advantage of this "stereo rumble" since ps2 and xbox 360 should have the same rumble technology?

Quoting directly from the 1up show now, just because I think this is hilarious:

Shane: It isn't like the Dual Shock 2. It feels different... it feels new.

Ryan: It is new. It's new tech. It's totally next gen rumble.  

Shane: I think it's better than the Wii rumble, I think it's slightly better than the 360 rumble.

Just so we're all aware, the 360 rumble and PS3 rumble are exactly the same tech used in exactly the same way.
