Nintendo has many great franchise. but what makes some better than others?

I mean every time Zelda or Mario is announced it is so perfact and a lot of people are so happy but when Nintendo puts out Animal Crossing its like "Nintendo sucks" Many were angery with Nintendo last year because they only had 2 games out for the holiday. These games were Animal Crossing and Wii Music. Everyone was upset. If Nintendo put out Zelda Wii and Super Mario Galaxy 2 in place of AC and WM everyone would say that Nintendo is great and that they had a great holiday lineup in 2008 insted of saying that they suck. I mean Nintendo has a lot of cool games so why is everyone only happy with them when mario or zelda is announced? What makes zelda better than pikmin? or what makes mario better than Animal crossing? I like Pikmin better than zelda and mario and I also like Animal crossing better than zelda and mario. Many people would probably rather have Zelda wii in holiday 2009 than have Pikmin3, Starfox wii and Kirby wii all in holiday 2009! I think all Nintendo games are great in different ways. Many say:

Mario better than Animal Crossing

Zelda better than Pikmin

Mario kart better than F-Zero

Metroid better than Starfox or Kirby

So what makes some Nintendo games better than others?

Every single nintendo game isnt made by the same lot of people... they are made by many different groups, with different levels of experience and skill, therefore different games are of different quality. Even if they were, you cant expect them to make games of identical quality.

Seems like a kind of strange question really....

Simply Nintendo makes their games for a range of tastes. The ones that you deem not as good are probably targeted at an audience other than you.

Well that's a pretty dumb question, honestly. Just going by sales we can clearly see that Mario and Zelda are more popular, thus they generate more hype. They don't necessarily have to be better, they just garner more interest because more people have the opinion that they are better.

Some of Nintendo's games are ensured 5+ Million sales, so putting a small team on these games to constantly try out new gameplay mechanics or to spend 12 months polishing a "complete" game is entirely justified ...
