Sony should make a move for DQX "HD" if they really want to lock up Japan. Until then Wii will continue to dominate. There's the answer to the Wii owners loving RPG's. They know the biggest one in Japan is in fact coming to Wii.

I am more intrigued by 48% of wii owners did not buy it for games.

Maybe that's why DQX, Tales of Graces and MH3 (although NOT and RPG) are all on Wii. Sounds fair; I bet most RPG fans, especially JRPG fans will own a Wii by the end of this gen.
My themeforest portfolio:

Almost all of the PS3 owners are MGS fan, RE fan, Yakuza fan, Devil May Cry fan. All of them are Action-Adventure titles. |
That means there are a lot Japanese racing game fans left to pick up a PS3 for GT5 and a lot of Japanese rpg fans left to pick up a PS3 for the two Final Fantasies.

This is what's making me wonder as well. If there's so many RPG fans on Wii, why don't they buy them?

Eh, they sold alright. And that's only relative to RPGs in previous generations and this generation.
If Japanese Wii owners truly prefered RPGs, then why haven't they bought them? There has been a very, very small amount released on Wii, and the best selling couldn't break into the Wii's top ten.
