I'm sure I might be forgetting some games. |
I wouldn't say any of those are leaks. Metroid Prime Trilogy was announced by Nintendo and isn't exactly a massive release-though I hope it does become a multimillion seller, it's a great value package. As for the other 3, they're announcements by third parties and I don't expect any of them to fill a large amount of time (if any at all) of Nintendo's conference. They're four fairly impressive games announced before E3 and that will feature at the show, but none of them are being hyped like the exclusives Sony has already announced and shown that will be emphasised at this years (Sony) conference.
The only game likely to be in Nintendo's conference that's been announced is Pikmin 3. I suppose they could spend some time talking about Wii Sports Resort, with the US/Euro releases happnening after E3 but I really hope they don't. Whatever Nintendo's big titles are for the next 12 months or so, they haven't yet been announced. Whether it's Wii Fit Plus, Wii Gardening, Zelda, Pilotwings, Kid Icarus or whatever that shows up at the conference, there will be big surprises.
Hopefully it's the kind of surprise that will appeal to the core audience, and undo the damage of last years 'show'.
There is a difference though of being secretive, and not having enough.
What Im trying to say is that you cant keep everything secret, MS and Ninty should have announced something decent by now. I don't mean to bring Sony into this or anything, but put it this way. If Microsoft or Nintendo want to match Sony in terms of exclusives this year then they will need some utterly amazing conferences next week (This is assuming that most of Sony's big games make it out)
Donkey Kong
“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
It's all about the gaming media. They need something to hype going in, so foreknowledge is useful. If there's nothing to hype, then they downplay it.
Not saying its a conspiracy, but total mystery doesn't bring as many hits as "Check out the Sony conference where we'll be covering God of War III and MAG" instead of "check out the Nintendo conference where we might be covering something interesting, maybe"

The single thing that could have made that show more epic would have been if he tossed the sword and shield into the crowd at the end.
