Forums - Sony - It's highwaystar101s brithday and he needs Sony help

Hi guy, so it's my birthday and my parents brought me discworld 2: Missing presumed for playstation 1 (I asked for the game, don't worry).

I tried to boot it up in my PS3, but past the PS1 loading screen nothing happens, it just goes black. I cleaned the disk, it is spotless, still doesn't work. OK, I know some PS1 games don't work in PS3 so I get out my PS2 to try. The PS2 has the loading screen and then goes onto a bluescreen, with the text...

"Discworld: failed to read a library check file"

OK, that's odd. So in my desperation I root through the back of my wardrobe and pull out an old PS1, try it again and the same screen comes up.

Does anyone know what's going wrong? It's an expensive and extremely rare game so I really can't just take it back.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! seems odd im not sure what to suggest.

Sorry I can't be of help.

If your PS1 is still fully functional, and it won't play on that then I suggest you've been sold a lemon. Nothing for it but to take it back and get a refund. Major bummer. Hope you had a good day otherwise. At least you have your health.

Happy Birthday!

Anyway, the only reason I can think of for this (not 100% sure) is that it's the wrong region. In which case, either return the game and look for it for the correct region (PAL), get a different game entirely, or get your PS1/PS2 chipped so they are not region code-bound anymore (last one isn't legal btw)

Thankyou for the birthday wishes guys.

I can't see what is wrong with it, but thank you all for your help. my PS1 is chipped so it should play if from a different region, the disc has almost no scratches on. Oh well, I'll take it back tomorrow.

Cheers anyway.
