Forums - Nintendo - Solution for Wii hard drive problem?

I had a random idea today. Obviously the Wii does not have support for you to plug a USB drive into its included USB ports. My idea (in which I am not quite nerdy enough to make work myself) is to have an adapter that would allow you to plug a USB Hard Drive into the Wii's SD card slot. This solution would only require the said adapter and would not require the homebrew channel since it would essentially be a fake SD card.

All I have to say about this is "HUH?"

Currently enjoying: Monster Hunter Tri.

HUH?

why not just good old USB hard drive in the wii USB port? since there is no such adapter that you talk about, besides wii doesnt need a hard drive now, SD cards are good enough for wiiware and vc

honestly the SD slot (max of 32GB now) is just fine for me. just seems like people are still complaining.

Why not just buy a really large SD card like 32GB or something? seriously. I have 2GB SD card now and could not fathom filling it up any time soon.

If Wii does get the TV service or something, I'm sure a 10GB or 20GB card will be sufficient and they are cheap too.

Like everyone said, SD cards are cheaper and work well enough.

There isn't a problem. The Wii doesn't need a harddrive.

There already is a storage solution. It's called SD cards and being able to use a 32GB card.

The Wii's video service will be streaming, so you won't even need an SD card to use it.
