I agree that a Zelda would be massive. But it isn't like the FFXIII announcement, it isn't an automatic victory.

But what do you mean by "Microsoft will try to do last year's?"

You mean with Versus this time instead or something?

What you fail to see Starcraft is i NEVER expected FFXIII TO GO MULTIPLAT, NOW I EXPECT IT. There's no announcement taht can come close anymore, maybe MGS5 360 exclusive.

Sorry Starcraft but out of the Big 3 Nintendo has the most to prove. Their E3 last year was abysmal, Followed by MS with rumors that their looking to go for a more casual look this they are the runner ups for who has the most to prove. Sony has some new announcements coming in the Pipeline for sure, but they could have a great E3 just by showcasing gameplay for games already announced+Release dates and A price drop or Slim model and A PSP GO.

By The By I think Sony is going to have the best

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

I think Nintendo has the most to prove, because they are quite literally on the cusp of losing their loyal core demographic due to neglect. These are the players that stood by them in good times and bad. Though Nintendo is getting dangerously close to alienating them and sadly losing them to the competition. Nintendo might not care, but they will care if their next console fails to connect. Novelty and innovation can be a double edged sword, and that is when those twenty million die hard loyalists will be badly missed. There is nothing more valuable in business then a long time loyal customer.

For those saying Nintendo needs to show one game. I hate to be crass, but your out of your minds. One game will simply not do, and if Nintendo tries that they will be thoroughly thrashed. Nintendo needs to show half a dozen core games with concrete release details. The famine has begun to bite and bite hard. For the wait the owners and prospective owners need to see a feast on the table. Not just a single game to gape at. You cannot support a console for one game especially when the back library of core first party titles is excruciatingly thin. That is what is on the line for Nintendo will they reaffirm their commitment to their most loyal customers, or will they ignore them in favor of casuals. Speaking to these forums that is all that will matter.

I was going to come in and argue that due too their monumental sales Nintendo doesn't have as much to prove as Sony, even with their abysmal effort last E3.

But Dodece's long-term argument actually makes a lot of sense. The Wii DOES only exist because the core carried Nintendo through the N64 and Gamecube eras (I know, I was one of them). But as I said earlier, one game for the core will stop them being an embarrassment. But they'll need more to win E3.

What exactly do you win? You say Nintendo "lost" last year's E3, yet they continued to win in sales. So, really, what's the point of winning E3 again?

Except, you know, new customers. And conservative business practices. Those are cool to have.

The Nintendo coe have stuck around - they're here in bigger numbers than any gen since the SNES. THere are more core buyers on the Wii than on the N64, and far more than on the Gamecube. More, Nintendo's core offerings on the Wii are in line with or better than those on the Gamecube at the same point in time.

If the Gamecube didn't drive people away, the Wii damn sure won't.

Nintendo could win if they do the complete opposite of what they did last year.

Sony could win if they do the same thing they did last year but with moar price cuts/games/other improvements.

Microsoft pretty much isn't going to win no matter what, even with FF13 last year they weren't the clear cut winners, so unless they can somehow top that, then they won't win. I can't see any unannounced exclusive waiting in the wings that could even come close to matching the caliber of FF13 last year, so I guess Microsoft is out of luck.

Nintendo has by far the most to prove.

I agree with the first half of this post, but not the second.

The bar has been set so low for Nintendo and they still have a plethora of IP's spanning from NES era to Gamecube, that they have yet to drop. I'm putting my money on Nintendo.

Sony in a dire situation? I think that's extreme. As it stands now E3 is theirs to lose. MS needs to announce a "Megaton" just to shift attention away from the PS3 lineup that we already know about.

I wouldn't bet against MS. The FF13 and GTA announcements were indeed Megatons. For somthing on that level they would need somthing like GTA5 or MGS5 exclusive. FFvs. would raise eyebrows but not induce meltdowns. MGS4 and Sony fanboys will barely blink- and this is all assuming that Sony won't announce a single new game of note.

@the2bears:
Actually, I believe that this time it really is more important. By winning E3 you win over the core gamer and, Nintendo will soon start feeling the need to get more core gamers to buy a Wii, because as the months go by the casual market will get more and more bored with it. I'm not saying that the Wii is a fad, it is PROVEN that it is not, I'm just saying that the casual market is like that, they find something they like, buy it like crazy and then get over it an go for the new trendy thing. How does a company like Apple overcome this problem? New models every year, new functionality, etc. Nintendo can't release a new Wii every year, and while games like Wii Sports Resort definitely help, they just can't depend on casuals to drive their monstrous sales through out the rest of the console's life cycle. If Nintendo can keep the casuals mildly entertained, and make the core gamer return to them, then they'll sell even more consoles, and even more games, and I´m pretty sure they'd like that.

nintendo just has to fire that glasses-wearing whore and theyre good to go... they can keep ravi tho, he was funny.
