Stop comparing this to Eyetoy. This is 3D, eyetoy is not.

Oh. I'm sorry.

It is two Eyetoys.

(Also, how do you know what it does and doesn't do? I mean, all we have is vague rumors being confirmed and denied. Microsoft might be developing a basic eyetoy clone that the media is blowing up to be 'savior of computer game technology robo-jesus' to get more readers)

Wii has more 20 million sellers than PS3 has 5 million sellers.

Well who knows what it will be like, could be a Wii Music for MS

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

I managed to miss this in this morning's papers... anyway, hopefully this does not become the sole focus of the console

I don't think this will be an issue since they rely mostly on third party games.  As has been pointed out many times on the interwebz.

Yes, but if they start touching games like Mass Effect or Gears of War, I will not be happy

I don't know. Seem like a great addition to me. Imagine playing Gears as you do now but with the option to dodge by quickly leaning your upper body left of right. A lot of gamers already do this on a subconscious level.

If this is the big MS megaton... ill be dissapointed.

Even if it could turn out good... its just not got the "wow" factor .

If it's well implemented, I'll sell my PS3 for an XBox360; I'm all for innovation and freshness.

lol...bring on the wii ports. Boom blox 360 here we come.

Well i'm totally surprised like wow. No that was sarcasm. We all knew the day would come now we just have to wait for sony to confirm there motion control thing. With the Wii's success there was no way there competition would just let them cash in on this idea without wanting some of it.

I think it's becoming way too ridiculous frankly.
I'm not even an outdoors person, let alone a sports person, but when it comes to running around and kicking a ball I want to do just that, not running in one spot and kicking the air. Online.

Well, quite a few are probably going to enjoy it so more power to them. I'll keep the option for more precision and less flailing.

Don't worry, this in no way removes your option for going outside or using your controller.

This is an alternative that will not replace your controller or Wiimote. No need to panic.
I also dont think the options will be as limited as you make out to being running in one spot and kicking the air.

For someone who has a Wii i'm not surprised you want more precision and less wailing but you dont know how responsive this system will be. The early vids from 2 years ago had it pretty responsive so imagine the advancements they've made. Either way you Wii is safe.

Your ideas may have had some merit if Microsoft didn't already have an EyeToy-like camera for the 360.  The Xbox Vision Camera.

If you think they're releasing the exact same device again, then I must say "Good day to you, sir."

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Tag, courtesy of fkusumot: "Why do most of the PS3 fanboys have avatars that looks totally pissed?"
"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

dumb and pointless. no point talking about this until it gets massive install base.

hell look at even the wiifit board, it has like 17 million and there are barely any games that even use that.

Haven't companies learned that for it to used by third parties you need to have it part of the system, bundled.

and lol if they are targeting only casual gamers as the term is. So basically they expect those people who own Wii's to buy an arcade then plus this camara attachment and then games. I'm not seeing it, seems like a lot of work and thought put into what you all need. When i think of the non-gamers I know who own a Wii they really seem like the type who know how that all works. They would go in and ask for this camera thing they saw and be told they need this 360 as well and then these few games work. Pretty sure they would just be like "oh ok, thanks for your help but not gonna buy"
