Forums - Sony - Sony: No Plans For PS3 Redesign

Basically, what they are saying is that the Slim exists, but it doesn't look like that (thank god)

Yeah. This information is basically meaningless. Regardless of what Sony's going to do, they'd say they aren't planning a revision.

So why bother with this thread? :It is a mystery:.

Wii has more 20 million sellers than PS3 has 5 million sellers.

Acolyte of Disruption

They only had to say this because people are speculating on the subject.
The reason MS or Ninty haven't said something similar about their products is because they don't need to.

Were they under the same pressure from fans and the media they would have to comment and I guarantee they would say the same thing.

standard company PR

We will all have to wait for the upcoming E3 show in a week's time or a later gaming show in the year and see whether or not the PS3 Slim is real or not. Anyway i would assume the PS3 Slims would be released later in 2009 say around September or October with a product launch and the old PS3s would be sold off cheaply. In with the new and out with the old. The PS3 Slims could be much cheaper than the previous PS3 models and may be launched with a cheaper price tag of $299 or $349.

All of these are rumour and speculations and we will just have to patiently wait and see what eventuates in 2009.

Ofcourse agreeging to that would bring the current models sales to a halt which $ony does not want.

Sony may introduce a cheaper PS3 Slim model with an initial price of $349 in September and reduce it to $299 by November to cash in on Xmas 2009 sales period.

PS3 Slim would consist of fewer parts and would be considerably cheap than existing PS3 models to produce. The extra game sales would boost PS3 profits with the PS3 price cuts. More PS3 console sales would result in more PS3 game sales.

This thread is a testament to the price any company will pay if they lose their credibility. Sony has lied so often, and been caught so often that nobody actually believes anything they actually say. I think everyone agrees that they place almost no stock in what Sony has to say about anything. With that being the case rumors and even hoaxes become the fact.

The real tragedy isn't that more users are not outraged, but have come to accept being lied to as a totally acceptable business strategy. The thinking being that Sony can lie if it suits their purposes. That may be a piss poor justification for Sony, but as a consumer being manipulated there is simply no justification for defending the behavior.

Other companies do not lie to their consumers. Admit it if Microsoft or Nintendo denied a slim model would we be so willing to discount a denial. The answer is no we would not, because these companies have more credibility. They do not go about lying to consumers, and even if a rumor is spot on they offer the canned response about not commenting about rumors.

This is just a terribly sad commentary about this generation. That a consoles enthusiasts do not even trust the manufacturer of their console of choice. I for the sake of Sony and their customers hope that this is not another lie on their part. Sony needs to start getting some credibility, and that is not going to happen if they keep lying. That would be better for Sony and better for the customer.

I thought it was discovered that those "leaked pics" were of some dodgy Chinese clone version

i really hope they are fake slim ps3s because i think they are the ugliest design ever. I still think the ps3 now is brilliant
