Actually I think that would be a great idea.
We could take the Hot Topics box off the homepage (freeing up some space in the process) then have it so that clicking "forum" takes you to a page that has both the hot topics, and the side bar with your own recent threads (in addition to what is already on that link, which is a list of the different forums)
So it would solve a number of problems.... first people could then start to use it as an additional homepage, like when viewing forums I usually have the homepage as my first tab, instead I would have that. Then it would free up space on the actual homepage, which would stop people complaing of clutter, and would mean the homepage is solely about games, and sales of games.
I have one complaint, on my laptop for some reason the sign in is covered by an advertisement, so the only way I can sign on on my laptop is to type my user and password in before the advertisement appears.
Ack! The new format takes up my entire screen, and I can't follow things. And there are so many colors I am getting a bit of a headache. Other than that, looks very polished. I need time to get used to this. Maybe I can customize as I like.
OK. We're down to a single colour for hot topics, good. Now how about we replace everything that is orange with the colour blue. Blue is the colour i associate with VGchartz, blue would make it look less like Gamespot (good) and blue on grey would look cool.

NO SINGLE COLOR!
Leave Sony as red, Microsoft as green, and Nintendo as Blue, and make everything else WHITE or a light-shaded color. Then colors work=perfectly. White won't hurt eyes, and is easy to read.

it is gone for now. Hopefully it will make a comeback soon.
it looks very good, but it kinda takes more time to load... i think. but yeah, i prefer it to the old one. very shiny.
