Forums - Sony - VGChartz plays Ico and Shadow of the Colossus

Here's a little fun trick for those of you playing through (maybe something new ):

You can grab on to nearly every animal (The only exception being the lizards). So, in the temple you awaken at after each colossus, there are a flock of birds gathering around Mono. Run at them, time your jump, and press 'R1' to grab onto the nearest one. It'll fly you around for a few seconds then drop you back onto the ground.
It might work with the hawks, but I haven't been able to do so.

Hopefully I didn't just waste your time with common knowledge, but I was quite surprised when, while messing around, it worked.

You can grab on to the hawks as well, from what I hear. Apparently there are also turtles in the game, though I'm not sure what you can do with them.

Do you happen to know what the lizard's tails do (in particular the glowing ones)?
I must have collected 10-15 of those and didn't notice any significant change.

They increase your stamina.

That's what I had gathered, since the circle would light up.
I never noticed it getting any bigger though, nor my stamina lasting longer. Oh well, that makes sense .

I brought down six colossi last night. I plan to topple the last two tonight.

It's become cemented in my mind that the 11th colossus is by far the most vile of all colossi. I've loathed the beast since the first time I played the game, and was at a complete loss as to how to kill it, and last night's playthrough only made me hate it all the more.

Scaring it off the ledge with fire is easy, but after that, you try to jump on its back, and you either miss or fall off because he starts moving again right as you land. At this point, its all about trying to make it to another ledge with the thing on your heels the whole time, knocking you over constantly.

It took me over half an hour to kill the damn thing, far longer than any other colossus.

Really? I thought he was one of the easiest.

You scare him off the ledge, then fall onto him and stab a bit. Then, you SPRINT up the way he cannot come, back to where you started. You rinse, and repeat. It only took me two drops to kill him- around 15 minutes, which is up there with the fastest I've ever killed a colossus- number 13 (on my first playthrough) took me around an hour. I ought to go back and finish off the final six colossi, but inFamous...

it's a real shame that I couldn't be here from the start my laptop froze completely on me and I haven't been able to access the Net for 2 weeks. Funny thing that I saw this thread on the very first day with zero posts and in that same day my laptop crapped out (coincidence or something else ??) I gotta tell ya life sucks with out internet most boring time of my life.

ok back to Team Ico. What can I say that haven't been said here or the thread I wrote about my thoughts on SoTC short time ago, although I will add this *SPOILERS* when Argo (Horse) feel from that bridge to what you thought was his death was probably the saddest moment in a Videogame.

I think I'll replay SoTC on Hard real soon that game's Soundtrack is THE BEST game soundtrack I've ever heard

I was reading qickdraw's & kantor's posts, and boy did I finish that game without knowing squat. You can raise your stamina and grab on to turtles and birds?!! Whats next ? Are you going to say you can raise your health!
But then again I finished the game in 2 days and returned it to gamestop for a full refund XD. MM probably hates me even more now XD

@kantor: 15 minutes is your fast? That was my average up until I got to that damn bull.

My fastest was... maybe the underground guy where you jump onto his beard. Either that or the bird over the lake. I seem to recall getting lucky and finishing that one off after one quick leap onto its back. Whatever my fastest was, I recall it taking 8-10 minutes, including finding the thing.

@hatmoza:  You're about as low as you can get in my eyes at this point.
