Forums - Sony - $42.10 for a demo???wtf???????????

I'm shocked. I thought Sony would *almost* give this away for free to drive sales, then make some money off downloadable content.

You have to be keen to pay $40+ for this, then *another* $50 (or $60?) for the full thing when it hits (which will have 10x if not more) the content.

Everyone remember the thread where the virtues (and reasoning) for Prologue to be FREE was debated?

(this is just another bad *PR* move by Sony in IMO... the boards will light up over this one. And for reference its only a couple of $ cheaper than either Galaxy or Brawl will retail for...).

umm... its the same price of the last 4 prologue games. They sold pretty well for a lessor version of the final version. It's traditionally priced, deal with it. GTHD was free thats the demo for prologue.

Hardcore GT fans will buy because all stats carry over to the official product which is a big thing to GT fans. Giving this product away for free given how much the game costs to make is not practical. That debate about it being free was silly and I said that in the thread. It's just not possible, was never possible.

This game won't set the chartz on fire but it will sell decently, especially in Europe over the Christmas holiday season. Family get together over Christmas holidays and have a multiplayer game of HD GT5... Sounds great to me, definite buy.

I would rather wait to get the full version than buy a half version for only 20$ less.

Question to all the posted i the thread.

How many of you are actually GT fans or PS3 owners ? i know plenty car nuts that will jump all over this. $40 to then is nothing to play GT online.

I am going to buy this game the day it comes out, and the game is $20-30 cheaper then normal games, so i don't see a problem with it.

Too high of a price, but you guys know that everything you earn in GT5 prologue you can transfer to GT5 like credits and other unlockables, right? Although the price is high, you will be able to keep items you earn and transfer them when GT5 comes out. I will get this.

"I don't believe anyone walks into a game store with $600 in their pocket and wonders what console to buy." -President of Worldwide studios Phil Harrison "Nintendo Wii has been a successful enterprise, and a very good business compared with ours, because it's cheaper." -Sony chairman and CEO Howard Stringer

Don't care. Buying immediately.

Shrug, apparently people will buy a Demo, even with GT on it. Just slap Gran Turismo on an incomplete racing game and it will sell double.

Damnit! Why am I constantly rephrasing people's quotes?

Anyway, not my type of game at all. Hold x, turn left or right, repeat as you unlock new cars. Is it because the cars are shiny? Really shiny?

But judging by the reaction in this thread, people don't care, and want the game enough, so why not charge for it? Sony ain't exactly pilling the money now, every little bit helps.

How many tracks and cars GT4 prologue had? and How much money you needed to pay for it?.

Ok, nobody quoted me. I will have to do it myself. GT4 Prologue featured 50 playable cars and 5 playable tracks, and races, time attack and license tests gameplay modes. The price was 2,980-yen(Little less than $30). So I guess GT5 is little overpriced, Sony needs to get some good press, if they put the price down to $20 I will be a smash hit and will get a lot of attention, if they put the price down to $30 it will be a good price and a lot of people will buy it(like the people who bought GT4 prologue), keeping that price(over $40) will upset some people and the people who buy the game probably won't buy the full game when it comes out.

Sony has been doing this ever since the days of GT: concept. I'm not surprised one bit that it would cost 40 bux, but i am surprised that people are NOW complaining as if Sony just started doing this. I guess people always has something to bitch on when talking about the PS3 these days.
