Forums - Sony - PS3 Exclusives Will Continue To Leave The Competition In The Dust

Articles starting with "let's face it" are usually made of laughable wishful thinking, and this one is not exception.

Sonys top 20 couldn't compare to Nintendos top 3 in system selling potential.

Wii Fit
Wii Sports
Mario Kart Wii

All comers, top 20 they still would come up short. In short theres nothing Sony can do even if we weighed 6 years of PS3 effort to match that.

yes selling pontential but wat about top quality games that appeal to most

"Sony is coming hard with the exclusives and they're going to continue to push the envelope. We already have MGS4 and Killzone 2, both of which are arguably - note I said "arguably," naysayers - as good or better than anything on either the 360 or Wii"

Top quality games that appeal to most perfectly describes Wii Fit, Wii Sports, and Mario Kart Wii.

I was commenting on the system selling part of the article. It seemed like the easiest part to crush.

@ChoppedLiver: A $299 PS3 would probably still beat the 360 after the holidays, its about how the sales are distributed with much emphasis going to America during that time where the 360 is strongest.

@Leonidus: Quality means what exactly? That a lot of people want to fork over money to see something? That a lot of journalists like something? It means whatever the hell you want it to be. Hell if I held the opinion that rumble was the only worthwhile attribute in games then the PS3 had absolutely no quality games before the dualshock 3 came out.

Tease.

So is this supposed to be saying that the games are going to leave the competition in the dust sales wise or quality wise or both? The only game in the list of games coming down the line that they show which will make a significant impact on sales is GT5. I'm not saying the other games are crap, because I'm sure they'll all be quality titles, but I don't expect big sales from them. Eventhough KZ2 is a great title it hasn't put up huge sales and didn't provide a big, or long-term, hardware boost.

Also, I don't think the 360 left "the other two consoles in the dust" except for the initial Halo boost did it not?

So if 360 exclusives, PS3 exclusives and Wii exclusives are as good or better then each-other, why should we expect PS3 exclusives to offer leverage over the other two platforms when they don't have any kind of the same retail impact?

PSXextreme is so funny.

and to the new ones on this side: There is an unwritten law for VGC - Do NOT criticise other members when you postcount is less than 400... especially Squilliam.

Well the wii doesn't really need to rely on 1st parties for exclusive games so....the tables have turned, suck on that.

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."

Quite right. My next post in fact is going to be an explosive rant on everyone! (After which I will enjoy my first ban.)

OT: The PS3 lineup is definitely looking good, but I think I still have too much to look forward to (and catch up on) on the Wii right now.
