Forums - Gaming - Tony Hawk: Ride exclusive to the 360 in UK

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/new-tony-hawk-title-is-xbox-360-exclusive-in-uk_7

"Activision has revealed that Tony Hawk: RIDE will be exclusive to the Xbox 360 in the UK.

The game was revealed late last week for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii, but Microsoft has seemingly grabbed the highly-anticipated title for itself in the region.

"Further to Monday's announcement regarding Tony Hawk: RIDE, Activision UK is pleased to announce that this title will be launched later this year in the UK, as an Xbox 360 platform exclusive," said the company.

The game is a reinvention of one of Activision's biggest franchises, and will ship complete with a skateboard peripheral when it's released later this year.

The exclusivity deal will be a seen as a blow to Sony's PlayStation 3 and Nintendo's Wii during the busy Christmas period, although Activision has not detailed whether the title will be released on other formats at a later date.

The title is due to be demoed at E3 in June."

Seems Microsoft wants to strengthen their foothold in the UK... But why Tony Hawk, and why in the UK only?

Oh F you Micro$oft. I'm so sick of these cash-throwing tactics, I don't even want the game but there are no winners with this kind of deal.

Well I think this is a move primarily against the Wii, as it is a balance board like game, but I still think it is quite pointless

May i ask why.

another sign of desperation from microsoft

The UK is one of the largest sales territories of the world. So since they already have the US locked up, and won't gain much traction in Japan, the UK is the best battleground they could pick.

Lock this one up and the US and UK will offer easy gains in a possible next generation.

why would activision ever agree to this? everyone complaing about sony and ghistbousters had better start complaining about this as it is much much worse

I am sick and tired of reading this argument. "Microsoft are desperate, that's why they moneyhat, bla bla bla". I think Microsoft has better reasons then "desperation" for securing an exclusive in this manner, and unless you can contribute something other than wishful fanboy thinking, then get out.

HOW THE HELL IS THIS MUCH WORSE?!

You do realise that it was a month and a half till release for the ghostbuster version and all of a sudden announced it later.

FFXIII is announced as an excl in Japan for PS3, But only Japan. It seems that PS3 has Japan so MS wants britain, fair enough i say.

This is the way companies work, MS has lots and lots of companies based in britain, so they know the potential of that market. Tony Hawk: Ride may sell heaps in Britain, and people who are undecided will be a great move. Deal with it man, seriously.

They're just trying to do the same thing Sony did with ghostbusters.

But war... war never changes
