Because of the 'new tech' available, there exists the problem that genres of the old and getting 'out-of-date' (2d scrollers etc). This is why we would harp on getting a 2d metroid etc, and why some would welcome, with open arms, rails shooters.

B/c great games never get "old". It doesn't matter how long ago it was released, the experience of playing is still awesome.
Yesterday, I just started playing E.V.O. again... that game is so awesome, sometimes i wonder... how come we get FIFA's, Madden's,Nba's and baseball's games every freaking year.... but we don't get another E.V.O.? Or another Nemo: The Dream Master??
There's no reason to think that b/c we get new games, the old ones would be less enjoyable. I still love to play Nes and Snes.

If you don't understand it's OK....I used to smoke a lot of pot.. |
If it's nostalgia, than why are old games we've never played before just as fun? Or why are there dedicated masses of gamers who apprecite old school games yet are still barely in their teens (i.e., have rediscovered old games through emulation or the virtual console or inherited systems).
Old games are simply awesome. I HATE game/movie analogies because they're always tenuos but...early movies aren't worse becaue they're in black and white. In fact, they're often better, as technical limitations forced writers to actual come up with compelling movies. Similar with games.
Crusty VGchartz old timer who sporadically returns & posts. Let's debate nebulous shit and expand our perpectives. Or whatever.

Oh god yes! And some of the scores from old PC games are spine tingling as well, I still get the shivers from hearing the soundtrack of The Beast Within (Gabriel Knight)!
Ah, yes, here we go;

Mmmm... E.V.O. and Nemo... 2 of my favorite games!!
I remember how the Nemo movie got delayed in America for so long that I thought it was based on the game, and didn't realize the game was based on the movie, which was based on the AWESOME comic from 1905.
Have you beaten E.V.O. before? Do you go human or stay a crazy monster?
yes this is why I have a bc ps3 and have only played 4 games from last gen on it (persona 3, persona 4, God of war 2, and final fantasy 12). I might as well have the one without bc because I do not need it (though it was nice to see those games in HD 1080p)

O.o there's a movie???? I have to watch that.
Yeah i have beaten both games. On E.V.O. I stay as an animal, once as a bird, and the other time as a Mammal. The human is just.... not exciting. You can't evolve the human to get more abilities, just the size i believe.
Wouldn't it be great to see an E.V.O. 2 and/or a Nemo 2... sometimes i just dream hwo great that would be

I would have to say that many of the older games are simply better. There isn't much else to it, they are just better.
Currently playing - Xcom TFTD... cause it was on sale a couple weeks ago on Valve and I wanted to play it again..
