Check out my game about moles ^

we could have a rule that whenever posting something from the IM you have to change their name.. to, for instance "guy 1" and "guy 2" though personally i don't care if the stuffs posted :p

Then why is there a rule against using other people Quotes in your sig if they don't wont you to.

and a rule that says you can't start a thread that says someone sucks.

But you can to humiliate them.

But there is no rule against using anything said on the forums to create a thread, or even a random post in a different thread. The sig rule is not really relevant unless people are quoting large chunks of text into their sigs (I wouldn't know as I have them disabled). There have been dozens of threads designed to do nothing more than make fun of someone for a stupid prediction or some other random non-sense  and this all happened before VGCIM was even implemented. Why treat it differently than we treat the forums?

So far the only thing I've done on IM is make 2 people guess where I'm from. Great addition to the site indeed. And 4PM EDT? That's like... 10PM GMT?

How come you made me guess Norway and said I was right.  Your profile says you are from U.K.?  So which one is it?

Neither, I'm from Spain.

No, the explanation is that I haven't had this account a long while (I have been here for a fair while though, reading all of WoW's posts so I can bash the hell out of him in some thread... eventually - I just never made a profile). And thus, I haven't done anything to my profile, so it is on the startup - Male from the UK.

When I write Fact: in one part of the post, and opinion: (or a similar word), it's not because I can then say "my opinion can't be wrong". It is to inform what part is pure facts, and which part I try to draw a conclusion in.

Personal problem, take a breath and come back when you stop thinking your humiliated.

Really it's not that serious, it's just the internet.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

People that post on the forums know up front that what they're saying is going to be seen by a lot of people.  They have basically given their permission for it to be read by everyone and can reasonably expect it to be forever in the public domain.  Can you honestly say that about IM?

Also it's usually impossible to look up the source material to verify that the account being given is accurate and in the proper context.  It's far too easy for someone to put their spin on an IM conversation by leaving things out and putting someone in the unfair position of defending themselves from something they may not have actually stated.

Saying soomething in a public chat makes it just that, public. If you don't expect it to come up again then you are painfully ignorant. There is no difference between a public forum, and a public chat in terms of privacy. If people are altering the chat in order to make a point then someone can check the logs to confirm it. That is not currently a problem though.

@Gnizmo

You are right people should think before saying things my point is that a small group having a chat are more likey to say things that they don't want or won't say on the forum.

I clearly feel this should not be used in a way to hurt a person if they have aproblem with something that is said they should say so in IM

Whatever they say, they are still bound by the same Terms of Use and rules in IM as they are on the rest of the website unless specified otherwise.
