I have no logical reason. I just want my PS3 to win.

Wow how spooky to see a thread I created way back before going on holiday to Dubai being resurrected just as I am about to go back to Dubai on holiday.

OT when I created the thread I was still a bit persimistic that Wii might be destroyed by PS3 this generation. Several months later I can say that despite being a very persimistic person I fail to see how Wii can lose this generation. The fad argument has clearly been disproved now and with Wii price drops still to come as well as new colours I think there is no hope left for PS3 and 360. They will both clearly sell quite well for 'losing' consoles but neither will be anywhere near Wii sales.

You are so blinded by your fanboy wishes that it´s not healthy for you.

If they were in the same price range it would mean one of three things:

1. The Wii would have been more powerfull
or
2. The PS 3 would have been as powerful as the Wii or some what close to it.
or
3. Sony would loose a lot of money pricing the PS 3 in the Wii range with the power it has.

What ever you choose from theese three things they would still turn out to be in Nintendo´s favour. 1 and 2 would still give Nintendo the favour since it´s the motion technology that made Wii what it is today and 3 would have made Sony loose so much money more then the 200$ (not an exact number but an estimate) per unit they are loosing today and the shareholders would go nuts. What ever scenario you choose you are dooming your precious console and that makes you the ultimate fanboy who wishes so much for his favorite console that it would destroy it´s existance.

Regarding the OP: I think that he was right to some extent, the bubble did burst but it didn´t turn out the way he thought. The bubble bursted and insted of declining the Wii went on to new heights.

You are making an assumption that price is the only motivating factor here.
That is not true.

I have seen studies (and unfortunately I do not have them at hand) that showed that the Wii buyers actually were more affluent than the other console buyers. This finding would not be surprising though as many PS3 and Xbox 360 purchasers are younger meaning that (a) they are at the lower earnings period in their work life or (b) still pursuing education and training opportunities which constrains their earning potential.

If price were the only motivator, then the college dorms should be filled with Wiis and the family living rooms with PS3s (and Xbox 360s). In fact, the opposite is more nearly true.
