Sales have dropped. No question of that.

But they have also dropped at the right time - Nintendo has planned & timed this out perfectly. The pre-Xmas rush starts around October, and by the time November hits - the sales of all games/consoles (this year in particular!) will go through the roof.

Nintendo will sell every available Wii this Xmas - worldwide. I don't think anyone has a doubt that there will be supply shortages - rather than demand shortages.

Nintendo planned to watch their Wii sales plummet?

You see, between now and November they only really have Mario Galaxy coming out, and even all the way until Christmas there really isn't much apart from Biohazard Umbrella Chronicles.  I suppose there is chance some of the other 3rd party stull will sell OK, but I don't see any runaway hits there.  After all, even Dragon Quest Swords has yet to sell more than 500,000 even though you yourself said it would do so after two weeks on release...

Come again?

A much smaller list.

You're forgetting 2 most anticipated 3rd party titles until november in the US, namely Zack & Wicky and Manhunt 2. And after that you're forgetting a Super Smash Bros Brawl, probably one of the most selling titles on the Nintendo consoles "ever".

The thread is specifically about Japan.

Manhunt 2?  I doubt anyone in Japan has even heard of the game.

Zack and Wicky?  You sound pretty confident about that.  Can't say I share your confidence.  Comes out the week before Mario too.

Smash Bros doesn't have a release date in Japan yet.

No idea what PS3 releases have to do with this, but whatever.

If you would read the post better from the thread starter you will see he was also pointing out to the US:

"In the US if 360 starts outselling it consistently for the next few weeks the Media will pick up on this which will stream down to the public and all of a sudden buyers will feel the Wii is not such a hot product after all and the 360 is the video game to pick up (at least those that can afford it which seems to be many).  This would then cause Wii to lose its momentum in the US."

Manhunt 2 is very hyped in the West and Zack & Wicky? That game was applaused by the audience during the TGS plus hyped in the US. No but Smash Bros will have a release date as soon as Nintendo has its "own show" next month, there's probably no doubt about that.

And what it has to do with the PS3? If you're talking about Japan.. take a good look at the PS3 line up for the up coming months in Japan... Ratchet & Clank Future and perhaps a Imabikisou and Eye of Judgement, are the only interesting titles to boost PS3 sales, which personally bugs me. And do you really think they will sell more than a Mario Galaxy? I don't think Mario Galaxy will sell as much in Japan comparing to the rest of the world but the first few weeks should show at least some high sales. Plus on the WII Japan has, Nights, Naruto Shippuuden Gekitou Ninja Taisen EX2, Zack & Wicky, No More Heroes, Umbrella Chronicles, Dragon Ball Z Sparking Meteor, plus probably more announcements, like a Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games.

Speaking of Nintendo's show next month, will 3rd party developers also be there or is it Nintendo only?

Where do you even get numbers for 500k sellers worldwide? Use 1M instead, much easier.

I've heard 100 million, but 200 million is just stupid.

Naive... You don't - that's the whole point!

Reality has a Nintendo bias.

"TWRoO wrote @punisher; thats not really valid because the ps2 was only out in Jp for the first 7 months, wheras Wii was in all. [and ps3 was only in Jp + America for 4 months]"

So, what was your point ?

Nothing's cheaper than something free.

F1 vs FOTA, when too much power is in couple peoples hands.

I think you misunderstand the core of people who are buying the Wii because it's a 'fad'.  True gamers won't be swung by media hype as to which console they want to buy. Well they may be swayed by PS3 vs 360 hype. But surely not Wii vs 360 hype.
