They really need a shot in the arm in North America, especially. But yeah, we need to wait for E3 to re-evaluate this.

Look at the NA and Europe numbers, the 360 outsold the PS3 by 22,348, or 26% MS is probably worried that it sold so low, but they just need to look at the PS3 numbers and feel better about their situation. The economy is hurting, not as many people are willing to spend $$ on a console. |
You have a good point here.......but we don't live in your fantasy land where Japan doesn't exist. Like it or not, console sales matter in all regions, and in all regions, the 360 only managed to outsell the PS3 by 11,000 units, so all things considered, that should worry Microsoft.
To bigger picture, as Zucas was saying, console sales normally slow around this time of year, and when you throw in a recession, things get really ugly.

Don't you mean how much US skews the 360 numbers....
Double standard my friend. The US doesn't somehow count more than Japan. Both the PS3 and the 360 have skewed sales across the regions.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

What he means is that the US and Europe count as one market and Japan counts as a separate market which is true as the games dont sell to each other very well. Western games dont sell well in Japan and Japanese games dont sell well in the west outside of a few select franchises like Final Fantasy and Resident Evil. It really is 2 entirely different markets. Japan doesnt care at all about Halo or GTA but they go ape crazy over Dragon Quest and Idol Master. Dragon Quest 8 only sold 500k in the west even on the PS2!!!

That's actually 100 percent true, simply because both consoles are doing terribly. By any measuring stick, they both suck. Sales are mediocre at best. The only thing the fans of the two consoles have to hope for in a sales war this gen, is besting the other mildly popular console in a photo finish.
So, being ahead of each other is all we have left. We should be worried about BOTH of these consoles, and what their poor performance means for future console releases.
I mean, if the 360 didn't exist to sell poorly, the PS3 would go down as a huge failure, and vice versa. These numbers suck all around. Blame the recession if you must, but I blame poor marketing, faulty hardware, and ignorant stigma surrounding the consoles. The Wii has nothing but the stigma and look how well its done.
Since when is our measuring stick, "The winner is whichever console can squeeze out a distant second place finish with a quick and dirty console redesign or a motion camera gimmick."
How bout, sales suck all around, and we should be equally worried about both HD consoles.
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
NO NO, NO NO NO.
^^^
That.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, had the Wii not been released, then the video game industry would be in very serious trouble right now due to extremely slow sales. The Japanese market would be in a real shite state of affairs.

delusional as hell aint yahh.
MS needs to look at their price compared to the PS3 then they can be truely worried.

Lol..... Microsoft has lost more money on the Xbox than Sony has on the PS3, and as I said before for being $400 in a horrible economy it's selling pretty well.

Which company is making billions of dollars?Which company is losing billions of dollars?
Lets hope a 300 dollar slim comes out because it will wipe the floor.

Both companies have laid a thousand or so off from their entertainment divisions, which pretty much equals shut the hell up.
The XBOX has cost Microsoft more than the PS3 has cost Sony.
you know what... Im not going any further here. I kind of like Sony Fanboys and Xbots and Wiitards making crap up or ignoring reality for their arguements, it makes picking them apart so much easier, and making them look dumb EVEN easier, and therefore my satisfaction level remains high.
tootles.
I own all three current consoles and a great gaming rig, now thats out of the way.

"Hell, with all the negative hype Sony spin, people just aren't interested cost is too high and to get the true HD experience (1080p, 7.1 surround) you will need a $1000+ system. THAT IS GOING TO DO IT IN A RECESSION! PS4 will not happen"
