Forums - Sales - Who makes more money, Activision or Blizzard?

A lot of people are gonna say Blizzard, but currently aside from the (enormous) WoW revenue, they don't really sell anything else.

Activision makes a whole lot of games, most notably the Call of Duty franchise, which I think makes them more money than WoW. Add Guitar Hero and all their other big franchises, and I personally think Activision makes more out of this deal.

Anyone with any numbers out there to compare?

Why have this thread? They're the same entity now.

Pixel Art can be fun.

Blizzard..
Heck wow alone does lol

Check out my game about moles ^

You mean who brings home the bacon?

Well I'm sure Blizzard make more then Activision ever could. That's why Activision has to stay home and take care of the house.

Blizzard hands down!

Wow is huge!

Blizzard.

Activision owns Blizzard so it doesn't even really matter.

Probably Blizzard.

i dunno, WoW only brings in 150 million dollars every month...

(wait a minute.. yeah..)

WoW has a revenue of what? 12 dollars/month = 144 dollars a year, times what? 13 million paying members? That's 1872 million, or 1.9 Billion. Of course, they have some expenses, but I believe they are comparable to the cost of what Activision does; developing entirely new games.

Now, Activision. On current gen games, they have sold around 70 million. The average revenue is, presumably, around 40 dollars. That's 2.8 billion in total. So I'd have to say that lately, Activision is at around 1 billion revenue/year, and Blizzard is at around 2 billion revenue/year.

BUT!

That's wrong. Activision Blizzard has reported a 5 billion in total. How much of that can Blizzard have made? Unless the WoW number is drastically higher,  Blizzard can't have made more than 2.5 Billion, or at least at a top of 3 billion. So it's actually rather close (heck, Activision could be bigger).

Having said that, Blizzard is going to be far larger in 2009 (due to the fact that they actually release games this year), and they probably made more profit overall.

When I write Fact: in one part of the post, and opinion: (or a similar word), it's not because I can then say "my opinion can't be wrong". It is to inform what part is pure facts, and which part I try to draw a conclusion in.
