I was reading this amazing topic and then I began to wonder about the percentage of MGS fans who have watched either Escape From New York or Escape From L.A, or even realize the connections. Kojima has stated time and time again that these two movies (especially the first) were inspiration for the MGS series (here's an interesting link) so I recommend to the many fans roaming around to watch these movies.
