You give people too much credit. I wish the world we lived in was the way you describe it, maybe then there would be less ads on TV and companies wouldn't spend millions on sociology and psyhology research to exploit people more easily. But that's not how it is sadly.

A world where people understand a commonly used term?  That doesn't really sound that far fetched.  In any event, a dictionary wil give you this definition, so, in all likeliness, most people do understand the term.

Yes... because EVERYONE is well versed, everyone gets educated, everyone gives a fuck about the dictionary and meaning of words and complex terms, everyone is nice and pleasant and the world is perfect...... Hate to beak it to you, but the majority falls in the uneducated ladder not vice versa. As to how it's relevant, isn't this about numbers jumping up in the anti-abortion sector? Maybe if we dropped the blatantly false labeling we'd see some of those uneducated people drop off the bandwagon.

The dictionary incorporates the definitions of words that are the most commonly used by everyone.  Uneducated speak language, too (the same language as their educated ciounterparts, as it stands).  Go up to an uneducated person and ask him what "docor" means.  He's going to give you the right definition.  The term pro-life is used often enough in context to give a similar level of knowledge for most people.

Well no, I'm using the right argument. You are forcing me to do/not do something which can POTENTIALLY become a human and ruin a life or whatever. That's government controlling your body and quite frankly, very scary, far worse than any tax, gun law, or whatever.

If we're going down the "it will eventually feel and have feelings and be alive, etc." route. Then why don't you just outlaw masturbation and jacking off? Why don't you start giving taxes for funding on how to stop women from having their periods and perserving eggs? Sperm and eggs are all a potential humans in the future!

So if we can not consider what a unborn human will eventually become, does that make it an ethical act to choose to have an abortion because you will have a perfectly healthy baby that is somehow undesireable in another way?

If it feels, and it's well into the pregnancy, no.

If it's at the very beginning yes. It's nothing at that time. It doesn't take a fucking genius to decide whether a baby will be bad for you or not, nor does it take 30 weeks.

So if it is early in a pregnancy and you take a test and determine that the child you went out of your way to conceive and you have the means to suppor will grow up to be gay, and you decide to have an abortion because the child is a homosexual, would that be a moral act?

I really do like how people pretend to know you and project the beliefs they believe you have onto you. Chill out bub.

I don't know shit about you, except what you have said of your opinions in other threads, which is all I'm using. If you are anything else then you are either lying here o in the other threads.

I wouldn't because I don't give a fuck what someone does to their bodies as long as it doesn't affect me. However if someone else wanted to do that, kudos to them. It's their body I'm not one to tell them what to do because I don't give a fuck what smeone does to their bodies as long as it doesn't affect me

@appolose

That's the point, pro-life is NOT your stance at all. It doesn't describe their stance at all, it's misleading and frankly a blatant, outright lie.

But they aren't my already-born children. They are a lump of nerveless, unresponsive (except for the most basic stimulus response, which I believe even an amoeba has) cells.

This is the argument you should be using.  Not that we're controlling your body, but what constitutes a human.

And, for most of the pregnancy, they aren't nerveless, or unresponsive.

TYour earlier argument was about anti-abortionists advocating government controll over your body, which is untrue.

" You are forcing me to do/not do something which can POTENTIALLY become a human and ruin a life or whatever".

That isn't our position.  We think it is a human, right then, not potentially.

That thing is no more human than the sperm or egg that made it. Would you then support making masturbation illegal?

But you see that this is a different argument, yes? You originally were contending that anti-abortionists are advocating government control of over the body.  But now, you're arguing that a fetus isn't a human.  So, would you then agree that anti-abortionists are not necessarily pro-government body control?

And I would contend that it is more human than the sperm or egg.

I thought vlad was referring to the body of the mother, not of the fetus.

No actually, still the same argument. Since sperm is still a lump of cells which are potentially human, be it man, woman, gay, straight, yellow, black, white, puple, dotted, whatever. Should the government have the control to prvent you from jacking off?

Esit: made no sense it's getting late here.
