Forums - Gaming - KillZone2, inFAMOUS, Uncharted 2 > any other 3 exclusives this year

Wait only half a month now. A simple 19 days, then all the cards should be on the table across the board, and you can make this statement

Also: can you really count Alan Wake out as a PC game, but then turn around and claim that handhelds are not in competition? Wouldn't the same apply to gaming PCs?

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

 I posted this about 30 posts back. But I put Flower in there which is DLC, the bet here doesnt include DLC. Otherwise 360 kills PS3. So I have to take Flower out to make it fair. Can anyone tell me, are all PS3 SingStar addons purchasable on disc? Or are they DLC?

Well

Top 5 360 is:

Gears 1 = 94, Halo 3 = 94, Gears 2 = 93, Mass Effect = 91, Forza 2 = 90

Top 5 PS3 is:

LBP = 95, MGS4 = 94, KZ2 = 91, MLB 09 The Show = 90, R&C: FTOD = 89.

Thats the top 5 all time.

For 2009 it's as follows.

PS3:

KZ2 = 91, MLB 09: The show = 90, Infamous = 90 (likely to drop), Yakuza 3 = 84, Singstar Queen = 76

360:

Halo Wars = 82, Battlestations Pacific =  77, Star Ocean TLH = 76, Race Pro = 72, Ninja Blade 68.

These are based on Metacritic scores, and do NOT contain DLC games. They also are ONLY games Exclusive to each console.

Does this count XBLA or DLC?

6) Games must be proper retail disc games. ODST counts, Peggle does not.

No, it doesn't. Only full retail titles.

What is this absurdity supposed to prove ? Another way of telling that the "PS3 is better" by avoiding the sales figures ?

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

Actually, with DLC and XBLA, PS3 would probably still be winning (or at least it would be close), but that's not the deal that was made, and I deliberately made sure that was the case, or I wouldn't stand much of a chance.

Anyway, thanks for that. Total:

TOTAL PS3: 431

TOTAL X360: 375

So that's a 56 point lead for PS3 right now.

This bet is about retail games for both consoles in 2009. I am not saying either console is superior, and I acknowledge that the 360 beats the PS3 every week. What does that have to do with this, exactly?

It's a quality argument. Don't bring sales into it. As for the exclusion of downloadable titles, it's not really fair to give Peggle the same weight as Alan Wake or Uncharted 2, is it?

Quality... that is what I feared... there we go again !

IMO if you consider Metacritic scores, they have to be considered by plateform only.

You don't compare the general score of the 360 vs PS3 like you wouldn't compare the score of the ps3 vs the DS..

EX: A given game on a given console might have a great score because the console "would" lack of that kind of genre particulary.

While games on the other plateform would get a lower score because the catalogue for that same genre is already in good supply. To me a Halo Wars got an ok score because it suffered from the C&C competition already, otherwise it would have reached the 90% no problem.

To me, this kind of calulaction is biased and doesn't make sens UNLESS if you calculate a "weighting" (not sure it is the right word in english) over the total score generated over the entire catalogue of games.

... otherwise it is biased "statisctics" and you reach any conclusions regarding your preferencez or whatever you are trying to prove...

Well, the PS3 and DS are very different. The DS has a touch screen and is far weaker, while the PS3 has more buttons, sixaxis, high definition, and a lot more power. The PS3 and 360 are pretty much identical, in game range and power (arguably). The 360 has no Sixaxis, but that's easy to remedy: either put no sixaxis at all, or have it only on the PS3 version.

So, it's perfectly fair to compare games on the two consoles, as they are largely geared towards the same audience.

Command and Conquer did not affect Halo Wars. Halo Wars is better in every conceivable way, and I think it's an insult to Ensemble that you consider their game anything like EA's piece of rubbish. By your logic, Halo 3 should have scored in the 80s, because Lost Planet and CoD3 were already out. Halo 3 was better than both of them (perhaps better than both combined), and so it reviewed extremely well. Halo Wars was a console RTS, so it reviewed well but not fantastically.

And I'm not arguing that Metacritic is any measure of quality, it's just that it's the one that 360 fanboys always seem to use (other than sales) so I wanted to twist it to show that the PS3 can actually beat the 360 on Metacritic.
