Forums - Sales - Microsoft: 11.6 Million Xbox 360s Sold

... http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=7224&Itemid=2

[UPDATE]: Microsoft PR has sent an e-mail clarifying that the 11.6 million Xbox 360 figure is actually a reference back to the shipped figures released in July, even though this latest release specifically uses the term "sold." Next-Gen has contacted Microsoft for further clarification.

Just_Ben, to be more accurate I read through the thread again and it looks like only Neos was bashing you. Eight people besides the source read the post and the linked article and understood what the press release was saying and are to be commended for their reading comprehension skills. They are:

W29
dschumm
WiteoutKing
Hawk
TWRoO
Erik Aston
Zucas
Viper1

Four people defended the incorrect interpretation of the press release:

gebx
erikers
Dodece
scotland yard

Three people defended the creation of the thread:

rocketpig
choirsoftheeye
Sqrl

One person came into the thread, did not read the linked article and set up a straw man argument about "Nintendo fanboys" and their "precious Wii". That person was:

jjseth

^ i didn't read the whole link [had a look] but i thought it was pretty clear what the number was.

Then your powers of comprehension are even greater than I had imagined! Seriously though, I think all of the people who interpreted the number correctly are also familiar with how the numbers are reported.

Some Quotas:

"But despite what Just_Ben claims this is more astroturfing/ random fact nonsense."

"just_ben fails"

"Or Maybe you should just stop doubting our numbers" (Not that our, not ioi's)

"Gets a little frustrating to see the "The numbers need to be adjusted" threads " I never said that, no I was questioning Microsoft numbers in the first post.

"we definently need a rule for not being allowed to (posting any numbers), but on the other hand, we might get Neogaffy then, so just don't, do it for political correctness!"

All because an article stated that Microsoft said sold through customers. The article said explicit that they know the difference between shipped and sold to costumers. I bet my ass of, that 50% people posting didn't even read MY post.

Just_Ben, why don't you attribute the quotes to the posters? Also, see that part up there I bolded in your response? I went back again and read the Microsoft press release. Where does it say that?

Not the press release, the article i qouted:

"Microsoft says that more than 11.6 million Xbox 360s have been sold to date, but which home console is leading the next-gen race?

The figure makes for interesting reading. As of June, the platform holder said it had had shipped (not sold) 11.6 million Xbox 360s, but seemingly that batch has now been completely snapped up."

Sorry, my english can't be that bad.

Okay, so you didn't read the press release? You didn't do your homework? The article you quoted has a link to the Microsoft press release. The article is clearly referring to the press release, right?
