Forums - Gaming - Why do people say GT is leagues ahead of Forza?

Alright, I can dig that. But that defiantly doesn't mean that GT is leagues ahead of Forza. Thats like saying a sniper used America's Army to get to know how a bullet reacted in certain wind conditions, and because of this, the game is leagues ahead of COD. It's just plain ridiculous.

This is Not a Game

You don't drop a novice into the middle of the 24-hour race in your Nissan 350Z race car. At 3 a.m., 13 hours into the race, with 80-odd racers piling round the track, overtaking, undertaking, three abreast, this is a dangerous place to be. There's no reset button here, no second chance. One slip, one lapse in concentration, and it's not only your own car that'll be reduced to splintered, pointy pieces, but potentially a million bucks worth of other people's metal, too. Not to mention the drivers. So why the hell is 23-year-old Lucas Ordoñez, an easygoing MBA student from Spain who'd never driven a race car until six months ago, behind the wheel of this 350Z in the middle of this nighttime scrum? And how the hell is he nailing lap after lap within a couple of tenths of his teammate, former F1 ace Johnny Herbert?

==============================================================================

"Drivers here told me that I achieved in six months what thousands of drivers don't achieve in 15 years. Gran Turismo gave me a lot of experience to be consistent in my laps, to know the perfect line and give me references for every braking point."

Kazunori Yamauchi is in Dubai, watching Lucas cross the finish line. He is impressed. "I always believed that someone good at GT could drive as fast as a professional," he says. "In fact, I think that they could go even faster."

Sounds like a challenge for anyone thinking of having a shot at the GT Academy this year, a competition Darren promises will be even bigger. Get involved. Settle that pub debate for good.

well that proves that its certainly more popular then Forza, but again that does not make the actual quality of the game any better than forza...

Massive racing fan, think most of us english are! Also a massive GT and Forza fan.

BUT

GT has not been the same since A-Spec, it has gone downhill bigtime. The reviews show that. No GT game has reached a 90% review since 2001, almost a decade ago. Where as the two Forza games (2005 and 2007) both have scored above 90% making it the current top scoring racing game of the modern gaming world.
Forza to me is everything Gran Turismo was. It was realistic but most of all fun. GT5:Prologue was a poor poor version of the series, probably the worst i have played. Its 70% scores show others thought the same.
The ironic thing is Forza copied the GT series but for GT to get back to the 2001 glory days they need to copy Forza. We want full simulation. I could not care less how shinny the graphics are if it feels like im racing dodgems on a ice rink.
So right now Forza wins hands down.

It's more than just more popular than Forza. GT is now the icon of racing simulation games.

Why doesn't manufactures partner with MS for such events? MS could certainly pay for all these.

It's about reputation and what people think GT is about in their eyes.

Certainly when you ask someone about the most realistic console racing game, they will tell you GT.

If you are not impressed with these 2 hardcore GT players who had no track experience at all before this event, got a 3rd place in the Euro GT4 series in Silverstone UK. The team was originally targeting the 6th place.

GT is becoming the bridge for the virtual to real racers.

GT Academy Winner Lucas Ordoñez Continues Series Success In Nissan 350Z

After taking home top honours in the Nissan, Sony and Polyphony Digital GT Academy program, Lucas Ordoñez decided he could make something of a career in racing.

It turns out he might have been right, with last weekend’s efforts proving that Ordoñez’s win in the GT Academy experiment was anything but a fluke.

Ordoñez, along with experienced race driver Alex Buncombe, piloted the Nissan PlayStation team’s Nissan 350Z to a podium finish, taking third place in the competitive European GT4 series at Silverstone, in the UK.

Lol omg dude i know that GT is way popular, BUT.......that still doesn't prove that GT is leagues ahead of Forza quality wise.  I don't know why you can't understand such a simple concept.

lol

a kid is a race car driver based on what he learned in GT. Its not about popularity its that GT is so based on realism on such a high level that it can be used as a learning tool for REAL racing. Forza DOES not offer that.

That's why GT is leagues ahead of forza.

You seem to dense to comprehend that, or maybe your just have no understanding of cars and racing. Maybe you should stick to shooters.

Your question is easily answered by playing both games.

- Attention to details.

- Detail level for the tracks. Reason why some Pros use GT as a tool to learn tracks.

- The variety of cars.

- Graphically advantage for GT.

- I used to say GT has better physics but I won't do that now since I don't have any track experience to support my point.

====And the based on rumors====

- GT5 will have more cars + tracks.

- Forza won't have dashboard view.

- GT5 will include damage, weather and night racing.

What I was trying to say on the previous post was that GT is becoming more than a game while Forza is still just a video game. I consider that's leagues ahead of their competition.

Were's your proof that forza can't be used as a learning tool.

And i see you are using one of the many fanboy responses when backed into a corner--start calling the other dude names.

And lastly as always GT is not the most realistic racing sim out, its just the most well known...

Twingo its pretty blatantly obvious that you have never in your whole life touched another racing games besides GT.

Just man up already...GT is not leagues ahead of Forza no matter what biased bullshit you throw at the argument.

Forza might be able to use as a learning tool, but I haven't heard anyone doing that.

GT proved that if you are good in GT, you could be good in real life.

yo_john117 to me it seems like you got your answer a long time ago in this thread and now you are just defending nothing.
