Forums - Sales Discussion - Million Seller Games Thread

Speaking of upcoming million sellers, I think it would be interesting to see each console's potential for adding more million sellers for this holiday season (or the rest of 2009). I've been looking at the Wii's upcoming library and close million sellers and this is what might come to be:

Definite Million Sellers:

Sonic Unleashed (990,000): No brainer for sure... even without a holiday lineup NA and EU legs would carry it past 1 million.

Hannah Montana: Spotlight World Tour (990,000): Another no brainer. Holiday legs will push it through.

Game Party 2 (980,000): Holiday legs to the rescue!

FIFA 08 (980,000): Seeing the fantastic legs of PES 2008, FIFA should also pass the million mark this year.

Wii Fit Plus (NA): *Watches Wii Fit sales* Yep, this'll be huge...

New Super Mario Bros. Wii (NA): This can easily pass the million mark on week one... and if not... well, there's always week two.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games (NA): This is another easy one... I mean, it's Mario & Sonic... with BB support!

The Beatles: Rock Band (280,000): A great start... and it's not even the holiday buying period yet. Even if things slow down initially, holiday sales will definitely push it past a million.

Guitar Hero 5 (220,000): Sales were surprisingly low for its second week, but looking at past Wii GH games and their legs, I see this game past 1 million easy.

Maybe...

Dance Dance Revolution: Hottest Party (998,000): Well, there's already a sequel out, but this game keeps selling at a slow but steady pace. I think it can make it this year.

Boom Blox (970,000): Haven't been keeping track of this one, but it seems to be selling well despite a sequel that's already out.

New Play Control: Mario Power Tennis (900,000): EU is eating this game up, and it's been selling pretty consistantly. Maybe holiday sales will push it past the million mark.

Rabbids Go Home (NA): The three previous games have sold over a million each, but this is a whole new genre. We'll see if the same audience will buy it up.

That's all in my noggin', so I'm probably missing a couple of titles. Still, this would be an interesting thread to have throughout the holiday season. I'd love to see it happen.

Heck, if you don't want to I could even do it... but right now I have to go to work.

Great analysis! Those games will all definitely be million seller.

IF they will reach million on their sell, gotta try those games!

PS3 million sellers by the end of 2009

Definite
Midnight Club: LA, Uncharted 2, Batman: AA, FIFA 2010, Tekken 6, Ratchet & Clank, PES 2010, Modern Warfare 2, Assassin's Creed 2, Madden NFL 10, inFamous, Need For Speed: Shift, FFXIII

Maybe million sellers
Dirt 2, Rock Band Bettles, Fight Night 4, Guitar Hero 5, Socom, Marvel: UA2.

If GT 5 is release this year then its a million seller.

I may have missed some titles. Discuss
I can do a Xbox 360 million seller if you guys want one but I dont really follow Wii so ill pass on that one.

Midnight Club : LA is at 932k and is selling about 1k/week - won't reach 1 million by the end of 2009.

Uncharted 2 must sell 1 million in 10 weeks to do it. Uncharted reached 1.05 million in 10 weeks but was bundled so I'm not too sure about this one. The Christmas boost could help.

Tekken 6 have very little chance to reach 1 million in 2009. Just take a look at Tekken 5 sales on PS2 and you will understand why.

Ratchet & Clank won't reach 1 million either in 2009 (8 weeks of sales) judging by its predecessor sales.

I really don't know about Need for Speed : Shift, it will depend on its first week sales. Let's wait and see. But it could definitely do it if its sales are similar to Pro Street or Undercover.

Dirt 2 won't do it.

Rock Band Beatles and Guitar Hero 5 could do it thanks to Christmas boost. I call a 50/50 on those two (will be very close if they don't reach the 1 million mark).

Fight Night Round 4 is very unlikely - currently at 680k and selling 11k/week.

SOCOM is at 880k and is selling 4-4.5k/week - won't reach it.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 doesnt stand a chance. The first one only sold 300k LTD in NA.

Midnight Club: LA (The complete edition is coming out next week in NA and should get a boost, and holiday should help 2.  But I meant to put it in the maybe so thats my fault.)

Uncharted 2 will sell a million before the end of 2009.(Uncharted 1 was a new franchise and sony did a poor job advertising it. Uncharted 2 probably have over 400k first week.  NA=175k, Others=200k, Japan=40k

Tekken 6 will be with the holiday boost and with the help of Japan.

Ratchet & Clank is a gamble

Need for speed shift will be low in America but for some reason need for speeds sell very will in europe.

Fight Night Round 4 did 20k last week and sport games sell very well during the holidays

Socom, GH 5, RB beattles, dirt 2 are just maybes. i real dont expect them to make it this year but next year yes.

I believe that rock band and everybody´s golf 5 would be million seller for PS3 with + other sales. but... let´s wait that someday that happens.

ninja gaiden sigma I´m not so sure... warhawk with PSN numbers it´s 100% confirmed, as well as socom.

the ps3 only has 1 5m seller? I could have sworn it had at least 4

Update : I added Madden NFL 10 (X360) and Sonic Unleashed (Wii) to the 1 million section.

Time to add 360's 70th million seller. Halo 3: ODST.
