Forums - Microsoft - FFXIII 360 Exhibits Storage Limitations, PS3 Not Affected

I had no idea such a large amount of JRPG fans actually played the game with Japanese language when they themselves do not know Japanese. Seems highly illogical. So long as they do good with the english voices it is fine. All the JRPGs I've played recently in english were fine. Any anime or manga type cartoons I watch are also in english and are much better. I hate having to watch a movie and read the subtitles all the time. But I also hate bad voiceovers which is why I hate the standard kung fu type movie. Do english voices well and there is no reason for anyone to use japanese when they do not speak japanese.

But the PS3 version will have both english and Japanese, right?

They said that both versions will be indentical so I doubt it personally.

But only PS3 version is going to be launched in Japan.. So technically XBOX version do not need Japanese voice over.

At least 3/4 of the players for the 360 version wont care about the Japanese voiceovers anyway...

"Are there many people who would like to play with Japanese voices?”" Yes ffs!

No.

Come on.  Of all the millions of copies an Xbox 360 version of FFXIII might sell, I doubt if there would be 100,000 prospective buyers that would voluntarily play through the title in Japanese if the option was offered.

lol you know so little..

No, the core will complain.  The normal joe will not even care...  FF13 will be a mass marketed game.  Core loses.

Final Fantasy fans are mostly made up of the "core".

more like 99/100 of the players, still ill be that one of the 100 who wants Japanese voices. Although I will probably play the Ps3 version.

Given 360 seems to sell best and have highest penetration in English speaking territories it's hard to imagine this will hurt 360 sales much.

I guess for those who do like to have the original dialogue, etc. it could provide a tipping point for deciding which platform to go with when the title launches (assuming it does launch with such differences between the two).

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Actually Final Fantasy fans are mostly made up of the mass market average gamers and any RPG fans.  Final Fantasy series has always been quite a lot more popular and has had much higher sales than the traditional JRPG.

I watch anime in Japanese even when the English dubs are available.

"even when the english dubs are availible" would imply that Japanese dubs>English dubs.

e.g I play my PS3 even when PSN is down

of course they are - let's start with the fact that when anime is dubbed they often change dialogues to fit in often losing sense or characteristic Protagonists sayings.

not to mention they usually soften the language because we all know that anime is only for kids:/ thanks to that many jokes are lost. plus if you have subs you can always use explanations for many things that typical non-japanese people won't understand, will simply miss it or will be confused when it's important to the story.

i would rather hear

Are you trying to explain to me something I already understand ?

Glad that i get Multiplatform games on the PS3 rather than the 360 as it looks like i will be getting the better version! One disk also, it was never a competition

With SE's current track record in the VA department I think I would like to have the option of a JA voice track. I mean did many of you enjoy the VA dubs in SO4?

Anyway NOT all english dubs are bad, I actually thought that Samurai Champloo and Trigun had better Dubs then their Japanese original.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi
