I liked suikoden tierkreis at first, but it got really annoying. I also tried suikoden 3 and did not like that either. What is so good about suikoden 2? :P

23.8: total sales Xbox 360 shooters= half total sales
16.35: PS3 total Shooter sales (minus MGS4)= over half of total sales
and what do these numbers mean? nothing

Y'see the fundamental problem with this sort of thread is that while the main aim is to try to correct a misconception about one machine, the OP can't help but put the boot in on another machine. Thereby starting a yes it is/no it isn't argument . If you want to show a serious misconception with respect to the 360 then the argument should stand on its own merits without having to resort to having a go at the PS3. It comes off as both defensive and inflammatory. There is no reason to be defensive if you are certain and confident in your position, and the only reason to be inflammatory is if that is part of your original intent.
If you are being defensive or inflammatory then you can hardly criticise, or insult, respondents for doing the same thing; unless that is you want to perpetuate and intensify the defensive and inflammatory tone of the thread.
I haven't read all of the >100 responses, but of those I have read I haven't seen a single person saying: "But the 360 IS a shooterbox, those are the only decent games it has" or such similar statements. In general the responses have been to agree that "shooterbox" is not a fair categorisation of the 360. Most people who want to pick a bone with the OP are critical of the methodology used to try to advance the basic premise.
My own previous contribution to this thread was not meant to try to show that X360 is a shooterbox. I was just trying to show that data can be manipulated to show what you want to show. I think the overall data supports the assertion that the 360 IS NOT a shooterbox. One might point to certain narrow, specific data to imply otherwise (e.g. look at the current top 5 all time selling games on the 360: 4 of them are [unargulably] shooters), but you can't fault MS or the 360 for the buying habits or game preferences of the consumer, any more than you can fault a family restaurent for selling a lot of steak meals when they have a varied and diverse menu. You might be able to fault the marketing of the manufacturer and retailer as being too oriented towards a particular genre, but I can't comment on that because I've seen very little marketing.

Well.. I don't really like those anime-characters that much. :P Also if there is a (annoying)kid as a main character, it just ruins the game for me.

| kowenicki said: @reasonable I agree with you to a large degree, but it IS different here in th UK by the way... But the point remains that people here arent as reasonable as you are and do perpetuate this myth, hell they probably genuinely believe it in their closed and tiny minds.... they certainly refuse to accept or believe anything to the contrary. Others try to hide behind a cloak of balance and fairness, when they actually have an agenda... plenty of examples of those people in this thread. |
How do you explain the difference in opinion of the 360 in the UK by the way? I suspect you'd use anecdotal evidence to some degree, which can easily be counteracted with something along the lines of- all of my friends at school who have a 360 always play gears, halo or cod. Plus why say that you are reasonanle and others are not and that they have "tiny minds"? This is just subjective rubbish, Why isnt anyone else in the thread who replied to you reasonable?
@cgi
an interesting find!! lol. say that out lod and see how stupid you sound.
perhaps rub your chin sagely and squint your eyes too... for added effect.
oh plus, this makes you looks "stupid" and childish, just as cgi said...
