not another sega lamentation...I guess it's impossible to see that sega killed sega just like sony is close to doing to itself. Neither of these companies fell because of competition. I give up on you guys though....can't keep saying the same thing over and over again.

I agree with you as far as Saturn and 32x are concerned. But not the dreamcast. That was a beautiful piece of hardware and everything sega did was perfect. Its just a pity that everyone waited for the ps2 instead.

And because they waited for the ps2 sony killed sega? Perhaps sega died because of their previous track record? Ever consider that? read my posts to disolitude. i can't keep reiterating.

Pristine is dead on with this one. The Dreamcast was a goner before it ever launched. Sega had managed to perform the three cardinal sins of business before the Dreamcast launched. They destroyed consumer confidence, alienated third party developers, and alienated retailers. I've said so in this thread and I don't feel like regurgitating a recent post. Sega killed Sega. I wasn't and still am not happy about it but Sega did it to themselves.

Thats not true. Watch that video. Dreacmast sold much better than any previous console at launch and for the first year... thats not a sign of a product in which consumers have no confidence.

Yes, it all makes sense now! Now that Sony is near profiting on sales of the PS3 which will help their current situation, they will end its production and quit selling it! Brilliant!

I'm really tired of going off topic with this. So I must apologize to the OP, but this is getting ridiculous. Sega was broke when they launched the Dreamcast. The company poorly run. They actually R&Ded two seperate chipsets for the Dreamcast. Sega of America using a Power PC/3Dfx setup (Black Belt) and Sega of Japan using a SH-4/Power VR setup (Dural). It would have to sell at ridiculous levels to get them in the black. Sega was 2 billion in debt. They actually cut down the Dreamcast specs because of their financial situation. Which is ironic in a way because one of the main reason they chose the SH-4/Power VR (Dural)setup is because it featured 16MB of Video RAM and the Power PC/3Dfx chipset only had 8MB of Video RAM.

Sega Black Belt

CPU: IBM/Motorola Power PC 603e 200mhz

GPU: Custom 3Dfx Voodoo 3

Main RAM: 32MB

Video RAM: 8MB

Sound RAM: 2MB

16X GD-ROM Drive

Original Dreamcast Specs:

CPU: Hitachi SH-4 200mhz

GPU: Dual Power VR Generation 2 Graphics Processors

10 million polygons @60FPS with all effects

Main RAM: 32MB

Video RAM: 16MB

Sound RAM: 2MB

16X GD-ROM Drive

Actual Dreamcast Specs:

CPU: Hitachi SH-4 200mhz

GPU: Power VR Generation 2 Graphics Processor

4 million polygons @60FPS with all effects

Main RAM: 16MB

Video RAM: 8MB

Sound RAM: 2MB

12X GD-ROM Drive

The Dreamcast was dead on arrival. Sega had no money. They canned the DC because they ran out of money. Why didn't they have any money because of all their pre-Dreamcast business stupidity. I will gladly concede that Sega's death as hardware manufacturer was Sony's doing, if any of you post information showing that Sony controlled SEGA's parent company, board of directors, and/or company President. I dislike Sony as much as anyone, but I only like to ream them for things that are actually their fault.

Also, wasn't Dreamcast games EASILY burned?

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

Proud? not proud no, happy yes, paying nothing for games makes me happy as it does to the many many others out there that do the same as it saves an absolute fortune, "76" 360 games would cost a fortune if you bought them from a shop lol, a lot of those games aren't worth the disc they are written to let alone £50!

Same as pc games, most people download them for free these days, same as music, most people get music for free, videos, applications, ebooks, the list goes on and I will put money on it that almost everyone here has downloaded something without paying,

Saying that though, I did go out and pay for COD4, COD: WAW, Gears 2, PGR 4, Burnout Paradise, DiRT and GRID after playing them for "free" as I wanted to support the developers of these games as I feel they were totally worth the full price, still got those games, so at least I do still buy a few games here and there, left for dead is next on my list to go out and buy if they release more content for the game,

I also pay for Xbox Live and buy a LOT of arcade games and downloadable content,
