Thats not true. Watch that video. Dreacmast sold much better than any previous console at launch and for the first year... thats not a sign of a product in which consumers have no confidence.

I'm really tired of going off topic with this. So I must apologize to the OP, but this is getting ridiculous. Sega was broke when they launched the Dreamcast. The company poorly run. They actually R&Ded two seperate chipsets for the Dreamcast. Sega of America using a Power PC/3Dfx setup (Black Belt) and Sega of Japan using a SH-4/Power VR setup (Dural). It would have to sell at ridiculous levels to get them in the black. Sega was 2 billion in debt. They actually cut down the Dreamcast specs because of their financial situation. Which is ironic in a way because one of the main reason they chose the SH-4/Power VR (Dural)setup is because it featured 16MB of Video RAM and the Power PC/3Dfx chipset only had 8MB of Video RAM.
Sega Black Belt

CPU: IBM/Motorola Power PC 603e 200mhz
GPU: Custom 3Dfx Voodoo 3
Main RAM: 32MB
Video RAM: 8MB
Sound RAM: 2MB
16X GD-ROM Drive
Original Dreamcast Specs:
CPU: Hitachi SH-4 200mhz
GPU: Dual Power VR Generation 2 Graphics Processors
10 million polygons @60FPS with all effects
Main RAM: 32MB
Video RAM: 16MB
Sound RAM: 2MB
16X GD-ROM Drive
Actual Dreamcast Specs:
CPU: Hitachi SH-4 200mhz
GPU: Power VR Generation 2 Graphics Processor
4 million polygons @60FPS with all effects
Main RAM: 16MB
Video RAM: 8MB
Sound RAM: 2MB
12X GD-ROM Drive
The Dreamcast was dead on arrival. Sega had no money. They canned the DC because they ran out of money. Why didn't they have any money because of all their pre-Dreamcast business stupidity. I will gladly concede that Sega's death as hardware manufacturer was Sony's doing, if any of you post information showing that Sony controlled SEGA's parent company, board of directors, and/or company President. I dislike Sony as much as anyone, but I only like to ream them for things that are actually their fault.
