By the time the PS3 reaches "mass market price" of $200, the market will be saturated with many more Wii's and 360's. In America the PS3 just has no chance and will be discontinued before the 10 year plan.

Painstaking effort? I use facts. What you used were past examples of a system that has always sold better than the PS3 and want to think the PS3 will do the same. It will always be "close" in weekly sales, yes. It will never be close to the 360's total in America and it will be the first to be discontinued in America for that reason once the next generation launches.
I'm not being fanboyish or illogical here. I'm using concrete facts and the current sales trends of the PS3 and 360 in America.
You know that whole "aligned launches" thing everyone tries to do to make the PS3 look like it is doing better than the 360 in worldwide sales?
Well here is the aligned launches for the America region only. The PS3 is not trending anywhere near the 360 in this region even after MGS4 and big game releases and price cuts.

The PS3 is still giving up shelf space to the PS3 in most stores I've seen. I don't see it as unreasonable that it will be pulled and only be available in a "one or two" per big store distro in a couple years.
That said, PS3 is the best selling console called PS3 EVER, and all you haters have to admit that.

because the fact one came out before the other offset the whole thing. The reason US clung to 360 like crabs was due to its early release and from tat point they dont want to actually buy another console, regardless of anything else that is going on. It was an impulse buy due it it hitting first and being pretty good in its own right.
Had they released on the same date, there would have been no time for the media to bash it nonstop, there would have been no pompous"late for the party" advertisement from MS, but there would have been the extremely strong Sony Playstation Brand name to simply trounce over the competition.

Ofcourse u're not, neither am I. Now tell me why ps3 can't do it's predecessor's job? Games like Infamous and Heavy Rain cud've come to 360. U ever wondered why they were cancelled? GTA-San Andreas worked out like insane for the PS2 console's gross...xbox gross was paltry in comparison. We need to wait and see releases like Infamous, GT5...it will imply things on what the PS3 is meant to deliver.

Had they launched at the same time, Gears 1 would have been a launch title and the Xbox 360 would be sporting even more capable Direct X 10 class hardware for the GPU and perhaps another core on the CPU.
Tease.

Exactly. They always try to make it look like the year headstart was only a positive, but in fact had they waited it could have been better for the 360.
They ignore the argument of "360 launched earlier and people were waiting for all the consoles to make their pick" when they view the worldwide aligned launches, but when the PS3 has never done well in America they STILL think it can somehow follow the PS2's sales?
@GameAnalyzer
What reason would I have to believe the PS3 will follow the PS2's sales trends when so far the PS3 has not been even remotely close. Even big games haven't sold well and haven't moved that many PS3's in America. And since when were Infamous and Heavy Rain ever even considered for a 360 release?
I can't be sure that it is going to happen in 2012, but I do agree that the PS3 and 360 are going to lose support first when the next generation rolls around.

Can't argue with that. I wonder if, now being in second place, vice last, Microsoft will continue to support 360 past the first month of its new console.
