Forums - Sony - Could infamous outsold KZ 2 ?

No way in hell. It won't receive anywhere near Killzone 2's advertising. Killzone 2 was hyped (yes, hype does count for something) for four years. It had a bundle in Europe.

It'll be lucky to get half Killzone 2's first week and a third of its lifetime sales.

KZ2 didn't get near to the amount of hype it deserved. Resistance had far more hype when KZ2 is the quality game out of the two.

I have nothing against Infamous. As a matter of fact, the more I hear about it, the more likely I am to pick it up.

But the chances of it outselling Killzone 2 are slim to none. It just won't happen, even if it deserves to.

doubt it
but with uncharted likelegs and good advertising + bundling
it could to the same like KZ2 LTD (NOT first week sales)

KillZone2 is now bundled in Canada. However, InFamous MIGHT be able to outsell it if it gets really good reviews and is advertised a lot.

The reason? FPS genre fans have so much to choose from. KillZone, Resistance, Halo, CoD, etc...

InFamous won't have nearly as much competition. I think it's safe to assume that Prototype will not get nearly as good reviews as InFamous.

I don't think you can really assume that.  Radical is a great developer and prototype still has a ways to go before release date.  I think they will be pretty equal, but actually think prototype will get better reviews,  we will see though.

I just don't think we can assume anything at this point.

It only has to sell like 1.5m copies or whatever that relatively small figure is. If sony could get their advertising together, then there would be a good chance of infamous selling over 2m

If they advertise the trailer that I've seen on tv, then all the comic fans would be drooling over it.

 which trailer?

Doubt it but who knows it might

I have to say, infamous8 has a point that there are way too many shooters but I don't know how PS3 fans will relate. Think about it, the people who are playing the demo right now are people who pre-ordered the game. After playing the demo, I think it will have decent legs because the controls and graphics are fluid and the story is great.

I was just talking about how he slipped in at the end that it can be assumed that infamous will have better reviews.  I don't think that can be assumed, especially when we haven't even seen a demo of prototype yet.

but yeah, I agree with the point on the shooters and it should help infamous sell well.  I don't think it will pass KZ2, but it should do really well.  The demo is pretty rad I'm loving it, I think I'm going to be evil the first time through, I loved the part where your lightning turned red, I don't know why...

it could KZ appeals to just FPS fans while infamous's will appeal to more than just FPS its alot od games in 1 sandbox, action, somekind of shooter, adventure

i think theyll be close maybe infamous outselling it
