@ Okeydokey, up it may be, as is the 360, but things are still bad, they just "look" great because of how bad things have been for the PS3 these past few years.

I wonder how PS3 is doing compared to 2007 in Japan?

Not as far as I'm aware, Wii is still slightly ahead.

Hardware is boring,and terribly low. The PS3 beats the Wii by barely 500 units.

Software is way more interesting; Japan is the region I want to see software for the most right now.

Nintendo needs to stick this one out for another month or so.At least they went back up to 20k. Sony NEEDS to stay consistent right now.

360 is still poor, but it is better than last year.

All three are doing pretty poor, just the PS3 is doing the least poor of the three. It does not mean Japan, "LOVES" any console OR company right now.

Also seece, the PS3 is having its best year in Japan so far, 2007 was terrible for a comparison.

The logic is dumb.
2k + 3k in consoles would be terrible.
20k plus, on the otherhand... in the worst market, is good, considering the numbers last year.
Being up YoY, is good.

The 360 isnt poor, the fact that its holding on is amazing, even it was selling 4k average people would be happy. Every unit sold for MS goes a long way.

Still though MS got a long way to go if they want to maintain the momentum, they are going to need some big exclusives before and after FF13

His logic is perfect. Yours is faulty.

Your logic is based now on previous performance as an overall expectation. His logic still counters yours because you made that sarcastic comment about winning a market being bad. But if they sold 3k and 2k respectively (assuming Microsoft still sold less than them), then would PS3 not still be winning the market?

Exactly, the PS3 is only doing 'well' because its beating its weak past and importantly the Wii is doing so bad

Still, in this day and age, we dont expect anything to sell as well as the Wii, and if both the PS3 and 360 continue at this pace, HD gaming will find its market in Japan which is excellent news. The Japanese developers are lost in their world with the DS, PSP and even the Wii all being odd markets.

Only the handhelds sell moderately well these days in Japan. The home consoles are selling terribly. The Wii has fallen a lot since last year, and the PS3/360 don't make up the difference.
