If we weren't in a recession. Do you think it would have been a different outcome right now?

Well, I think even't if we weren't in a recession the Wii would still be on top since it had a expaned audience. Maybe the sales would be higher but the PS3 would still be last. The Wii library would be better because the owners would have more money to buy games.

We werent in a recession in 2006 and things have been stable console sales wise, so no I dont think their would be a difference

The PS3 would have a built in grill, the 360 would have a built in milkshake maker, and the Wii would cook toast and waffles.

PS3 might be doing a little better because of the high price but the economists have said the U.S. has been in the recession starting in Dec. 2007.

And we all saw the best year ever in video game sales last year, 2008.

So I really don't think it effected to much in the game industry.

Maybe the Wii can make really awesome chocolate chip cookies or something as well. I hate waffles and toast. :P

If only the Wii or the PS3 came with a personal sushi chef! Now that'd be sweet.

If it weren't for the strong Yen, the PS3 might have had a price cut already.

I don't think the situation would be that different except that the sales would probably be slightly higher and the ps3's sales a bit closer to the 360 sales then they are now.

Unfortunately we can never really know for sure.

You have to keep in mind that the wild success of the Wii and DS platforms began and really hasn't been hindered that much by the global recession. In fact were it not for the recession I believe that the industry would be the same in terms of places but that the Wii/DS would be doing even better than they are now and the 360 and PS3 would be much closer and a bit higher.

I don't personally think it would have affected the outcome much.
