I have this image of Sony cutting the price @ E3 by $50, and announcing it to the world during the conference, and Microsoft walking up on the stage and saying Xbox 360 premium $xxx then sitting back down. That would probably crash the video game sites.

Now THAT would be epic and worth watching 50x in a row.

There are many Sega fans on this site who would cream themselves if that happened.

Did that happen with the Dreamcast or something?  Is there a link to the story?

I honestly can't say for sure, I have a feeling all three companies will deliver.

sony

SONY. They did great last year.

MSFT will win E3 again.

Hmm... well, truth of the matter, all the fanboys are going to say their favorite company will win, and will stick to that regardless of what actually happens. The same is most likely true for the companies; it's very rare to have something like Nintendo's admitting of last year being poor from the companies themselves. But I'll look at all of them objectively:

Sony: There are too many expectations for them, and the company simply can't afford to do them all. People will say that they fail if there's not a PS3 pricecut, if they don't announce X exclusive, that the PSP4000 will do Y, etc, etc. Sure, I expect some PSP news, but really, announcing the removal of the UMD drive would be stupid, as it would render the slew of games coming out for it useless for the new system. Thus, if I am correct, the announcement for the PSP will disappoint alone.

Microsoft: This one's the toughest to call. They won't drop the 360 price unless Sony drops the PS3, nor do I see an announcement of a 360 pricedrop causing as many ripples. Gamewise, it's even tougher. Their biggest strength seems to be buying up exclusives, but given their financials and the fact that the 360 is finally turned around into profit means that the shareholders will most likely want to see some sort of return, thus less exclusives to announce. I think they're going to push heavily on the 3rd party titles, despite few new exclusives, since that seems to be their MO lately.

Nintendo: There is no middle ground for them this year. They're aware of last year's bombshell. This year is another bob-omb for them. Sure, people have the lowest expectation for them, unfortunately, everyone wants one different thing. This simply can't happen, so it will be based on whether people get their thing or not. In addition, Nintendo knows they need to do something different. But will they go in the right direction? I think they're going to try going in several directions, which will leave many with one 'wow', but overall unimpressed.

So I really can't vote in the poll, though again, that will just be a fanboy wank. But with my low expectations for all of them, I really can't say... I'll just see how the cards play out for all of them.

Wow, I didn't know Microsoft was my favorite company.  Who knew.

Well I voted all 3. Last year's E3 wasn't the best for any of the companies, so I really think they ALL will have something to impress with this year. Nintendo and Microsoft in particular because we know so LITTLE about what they have coming, but Sony too because what we know they have coming should impress much. Plus this is the RETURN OF E3, so all of them are going to want to impress and inspire.

Sadly, the polls on this site only reinforce how strong the fanboy community is here, particularly for Sony. I'm an owner of only a 360, but there was no way I could vote for MS no matter how excited I am about their showing. I'm a gamer first, and I imagine that this E3 will make folks like me truly wish we could own (and have time to play) all 3 consoles.

Did this happen or something?
