oh my god I can't listent to 8 year olds curse at each other cause I need to taunt other players, VIDEO GAMES ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE PLAYED THE ARE SIMPLY A VEHICLE FOR PEOPLE TO CURSE AT EACH OTHER

serious just play the game against some one over the internet, can't people play and enjoy games not need unnessicary bells and whistle that don't add anything to the core expierence

Well I've been making heavy use of the voice comm feature in Team Fortress 2 all day, and I think it's pretty spiffy. As for 8-year-olds cursing at you? God created the "mute" button in His infinite wisdom, you know.

Casuals don't know how to find the button "mute" =P

EDIT: joke aside, I'm probably one of the people who don't get affected by it since 1) I don't have the Wii, punishment to superchunk for open up my wound again ;_;  2) My English listening and speaking skills aren't good enough...

I'm an ALIEN!!!! - officially identified as by Konnichiwa

Of course... My English is still... horrible - appreciation and thanks to FJ-Warez

I don't think Nintendo is quite ready to deal with the possibility of child predators and other mischief that can occur with random chats. There will probably be a lot more kids compared to most other internet enabled games and the last thing people want is their 8 year old talking to unknown adults.

While i long to introduce young children to my colorful marriage of ratial slurs and obscene profanity which is comonly spewed forth during the heat of video game battle, I think a Wii headset is one advent in gaming I can put on the back burner for just a little while longer.

Whatever, this is such a non-issue for me. While I wouldn't mind voice for friend battles - I'm all for random battles not being ranked AND not having comms/voice.

It not only ensures that random battles don't get out of hand, it gives gamers a real incentive to setup friend codes and use them.

These "features" will probably end up selling MORE copies of the game, as parents are more assured that little Johnny & Mary can play the game "safely".

I hate Matt Casamassina. He's the biggest effing whiner. "Oh no, Nintendo did something awesome, but ITS NOT AWESOME ENOUGH! WAH WAH WAH!"

He acts like the entire world is a movie and he's the movie critic.

While no one enjoys listening to preteens swear, The fact that friends can't talk to eachother is pretty stupid. The DS has voice chat for crying out loud. There isn't a single solitary reason for the Wii not too have had one from day one.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Well look how long it took them to get the headset for the DS, might be a relative length of time for the Wii too, I imagine they'll want more online savy games to boost the demand for such a product before just throwing it out on the market.

To be honest, there hasn't really been much of a reason for headsets yet. Not many wargames on the Wii as of yet.

I'd have to agree with Matt on some regard.
I play strikers with my brother and my friend in another state...
We A) use speaker phone on cell phones (only after 9 mind you) or B) use G talk... Both work well enough, but it makes one extra step.
I don't want to hear players I don't know but I'd like to be able to play my friends and be able to talk to them...especially when online co-op games come out, like BWii.

I use my PC headset as do most my friends...our PCs are close enough that we can play Brawl and use our PC headsets to chat.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )
