Forums - Gaming - Sony pick up Ghostbusters game

Doesnt seem like a moneyhat actually. I think there is no exclusitivity to this. Just that Sony is publishing the PS3 and Ps2 versions. Maybe their is a publisher for 360 and Wii, but decided not to front the money for the Sony versions?

Maybe M$ will publish the 360 version for the devs?

However this late into the process when the game is about to go gold is unheard of. All the HD version thats been shown is with 360 interface onscreen to. If Sony have paid money for it, it's got to be one of the worst things Sony has spent money on in ages. This has 0 chance of selling systems, but great chance at selling a good amount of copies on 3 systems.

I think theres more to this story.......

Explains why he banned me, he wants to make good with the Sony crowd on Vgchartz!

Tease.

@ KGB29: waiting until the last minute and having all the hyping / creating / ... done by others, and just swooping in for the money-time? And I doubt that other companies are in that bad of a state as Atari, therefore not allowing Sony to do the same thing with other games.

@ selnor: We'll have to see, apparently the 360 version is dubious, but nothing mentioned about the wii... which would seem weird. It might not sell systems, but I think (correct me if I'm wrong), Ghostbusters is a bigger name in the US than it is in the rest of the world?

The article doesnät say anything about the Wii version.

Btw isn't the Wii version a completly different game?

same version as PS2 afaik

Hmm wasn't the Wii version going to be ported to the PS2? so it really shouldn't matter if Sony moneyhatted the PS3 version.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

wouldn't be Epic to pick the game for the 360 and look and see the SONY Computer Entertainment logo on the cover

Haha this is awesome XD.

Now they need to buy Batman: Arkham Asylum as an exclusive.

Why do i think this has something to do with Sony's restructuring they've been doing, now they've realized they own the ghost busters IP, and don't know why the heck they're letting their competition access to it. Or it was a sneaky move to catch Microsoft off-guard? Wouldn't be more logical for Sony to have it exclusive for a long time in advance in order to hype it as a PS3 exclusive?
Maybe Sony will shock us and have a wii mote like peripheral ready by June 19th? seems like an ideal game for such a device. Maybe the game was not looking good, but Sony would stand to lose a lot by owning the license if the game didn't release at all- Would cross promotion with the blu ray release really actually sell the game? I don't think it would. Lots of questions..

It doesn't seem like Sony would make a move and publish something that's crap, makes me think this game might not be half bad. If the game is good it certainly could be a big move, but I don't think all that many people were thinking it would be. I'm hoping they can 'double' the ghosts count or whatever if it goes ps3 exclusive, since awhile back they were quoted saying something to the effect that the PS3 could handle twice as many on screen enemies. Kind of wish the game had co op though.

Just a point I was thinking.

If Sony have bought the rights, How much money would it have cost Sony to get Exclusitivity?

Remember they would have to have had to have offered enough money to discard 4 all but complete versions of the game ( being 360, wii, PC and DS ). Those 4 versions must amount to alot of money in developers time and design.

2nd if Sony have pulled the Rights thing with Sony Pictures, will they end up in court for the same thing M$ did with monopolising an industry? Effectively nothing would stop Sony having all Sony Pictures film/game adaptions only appearing on a Sony console. That is monopolising, so I cant see it being that.

Maybe the info is taken wrong. Maybe Sony have the rights to selling Ghostbusters game/film bundles? I dont know. But either way if they have paid money it must be an extortionate amount to stop 4 complete versions of the game.

If it doesnt come to 360, it's very disappointing for me, I was looking forward to it. Not enough to warrant me rushing to buy a PS3, but sad nonetheless.
