I guess both Micro$oft and $ony are evil money hatting corporations.

Sony is paying money to distribute the game on their systems.. How is that similar to throwing money at a company so that they only release it on one platform?

Because they are throwing money at a company so that they only release it on Sony's platforms.

Read the article again please. They are distributing the game on their platforms. Without a distributor, the game wouldn't get sent out at all. Where as MS didn't distrubute Star Ocean 4, or the GTA4 DLC, they just paid to have it come out on their system only.

Atari must have the capability to publish their own games in Europe, since they do so for Namco. Also, the non-Sony versions are still planned for a PAL release by Atari, so I think it's pretty obvious that $ony bought themselves a timed exclusivity deal.

And Microsoft certainly did distribute The Lost & Damned, since it was DLC.

Never the less, Sony is still shelling out money for a reason, It's going to have costs incured with publishing the game, as opposed to just throwing money to make the other versions go away. And although Atari could probably have published the whole thing themselves, if you followed the history of this game, it seems that no one really wanted to. With all the companies it was passed to, who knows, maybe Atari wanted to get rid of the whole thing, and Sony would only take part of the publishing needs.

Also, you actually paid for the distribution of the lost and the damned with your gold membership. :D

Why are people even bothered by this when the game looks nothing more than another "meh, next please"

Because the PS3 exclusive games list just got a lot better and there are people out there that grow up with The Ghostbusters series and loved it. TGB is an established franchise, so this timed exclusive should be taken as a big deal. The generation that grew up on TGB cartoons and movies are today’s gamers and moviegoers.

A timed exclusive isn't a console exclusive when it will be releasing on the others shortly after lol,

And I would understand if this game was a "heavy hitter" but it won't be, it won't sell systems and it'll only mainly sell to ghostbuster fans, if this is the timed exclusives sony are getting i'm VERY glad I no longer buy games for my PS3 lol.

lol your loss

Yeah. It's amazing how far my $3/month goes.

Wow, lots of trolls and idiots in this forum, as for Ghostbusters pushing PS3 sales, which is basically what Sony is pulling for here is not going to work.

it seems that no one really wanted to. With all the companies it was passed to, who knows,

Case in point as I heard that Terminal Reality were getting all sorts of calls about publishing after Douchavision dropped the game.  Sony just decided to be douches themselves and screw the PAL regions over with this little stunt.

So let me get this right.

Ghostbusters releases on

360, PS3, Wii and PC at exactly the same time together in:

Japan, America and the rest of the world.

However It releases in Europe only on PS3 first for a few months. What is Sony playing at??????

"Sony released these images of Ghostbusters, not all new as far I can tell. Why Sony you may think? Sony announced this week that they would publish the game in Europe, meaning that both 360 and Wii versions are at least for the moment not going to be released there. In other territories the game will be released as announced before on all platforms simultaneously."
