If only you understood MikeB.  Wait... is this a MikeB alt?  It's happened before!!!

Oh and the whole "try to prove him wrong" thing?  Yeah, been there, done that.  It doesn't help.  He just keeps on stealth trolling with misinformation.

Instead of speaking on an issue you have not fully understood and not fully researched, why don't you leave out of it unless you want to read through all the crap MikeB has said and join us

And it isn't disgraceful, it is an honorable action to take to rid the forums of a worm so that VGChartz can be a better place.  He has more than earned a perma ban by the forum rules themselves.  I'm merely trying to help the moderators see that.

Man, I have read over many posts of MikeB and let me tell you that found them most to be informative and technical.

And I am sure there are more then one member in this website who thinks similar.

Its a different matter if you don't agree with him. Yes he favors the PS3 with his analysis but at least he tries to say something reasonable not like a rabid fanboy resort to personal attacks.

And as for your insinuation about my being an alt-account, dude take a look at my profile. Take a hard look at the date I joined.

I used view MikeB that way when I initially joined this forum. Until other posters with a technical background started to disprove what he posted. Then a few days later you'd see Mike posting the same thing that was refuted earlier. It's gotten to the point where several posters just flat out ignore him because his posting behavior. Other posters think its their duty to warn people about MikeB's antics. It seems that he is worn out his welcome on more than one forum with his antics. Where there is smoke, there is usually fire.

^Me too until the last few weeks. That 360 DVD thread really put him over the top and he's lost all credibility with me.

Even if what you say about mikB is true whats wrong about it? I believe everyone has the right to voice their opinions and everyone has a reason for it.

Most of the console fanboys are fans of a particular console coz they own one. Ya everyone will have a selfish reason for their opinions. Get that into your head. Instead of spreading this defamation you can try and counter MikeBs argument and try to prove him wrong.

Your calling for a permaban on another member is disgraceful.

I think people want the ability to have honest discussions with honest give and take.  Crafting messages to spread BS and simply get under the skin of multiple people is trolling.  And Mike is good at it no doubt.  I'll certainly give him that.  He is not someone who will just pop in with "PS3 rulez!".  He takes his time to craft messages that sound reasonable on the surface, but usually do not pass muster beyond that.  He often quietly retreats when proven wrong, only to spin his tech tales in other threads with the same BS.  He delights in confusing the uninformed and in speaking in circles to the informed to try to wear out others who actually know what they are talking about.  Here is a good example of him in action in this regard:

Frankly I could not give a hoot which Kool-aid flavor he was trying to sell (Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft).  Its the trolling delivery that is the issue.  And look at the pictures of this guy.  He has got to be at least in his 30s.  WTF on being a fan"boy".

*face palm*

They wanted to make some serious money!
That's why Microsoft entered the console market.

Old news usually doesn't escalate into 13 pages.

Depends on how hot button the topic.

Which pretty much sums up the situation.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

These people seem to be the only ones that even remotely get it.

The goal of PlayStation always was to replace PCs. Kutaragi saw Microsoft as their biggest competition even before they entered the market with the Xbox. The PS3 comes closest to the original vision of Kutaragi, i.e. gaming only being a part of the system and not even necessarily the main draw of the console.

It's questionable how much Sony cares for console gaming and gamers after all their actions this generation. Similar to Microsoft they see console gaming and gamers as gateway to their greater goal: a set-top-box for the living room.

Microsoft doesn't really see Nintendo as a threat, the Wii doesn't aim to be a set-top-box, it's simply a game console for the most part. All the big money of Microsoft goes to blocking Sony, be that creating substitutes for popular PlayStation only games or buying third party exclusivity. The attempts to compete with Nintendo are usually halfassed (even Microsoft's "casual" games seem to copy PS games) and Microsoft didn't even mind to release Viva Pinata on the DS.

The point of my post: Nintendo is the only company out of the three that really cares for console gaming and gamers (yes, I am aware that this may sound insane to some people). The industry would have headed towards selfdestruction if it weren't for the Wii and DS which appeal to a large number of people and have by far the lowest development costs of the current generation systems (Wii vs. PS3/360 and DS vs. PSP). These two things are the most important points for console gaming, they keep the business going and allow risks which results in more varied games which is also in the best interest of gamers.

This is the reality of modern technology. The mobile is the most threatening example of multi purpose technology around and Apple know this all too well.

Look at whats happening to tvs, theyre getting built in hard drives and pvr's in addition to internet access. Look at mobile phones, internet, cameras, video, etc.

Look at all the latest downloadable everything products, cloud software, gaming, etc. Smaller laptops, your not going to need big memory if its all online for you.

All this stuff is a threat to somebody. MS along Sony or Nintendo are being threatened by this new wave of multi function everything.

Remember that Nokia is now the largest manufacturer of camera's in the world.

I believe the first sign of what is happening occurred, not when MS got into gaming but, when Apple decided to make phones. They crossed over into virgin (arguably bcoz of the lack of user fr iendly aps on high end mobiles) territory and have been slowly converting their ipod customers into Apple software, gaming and hardware users.

I have no conclusion but i do think all 3 console makers, along with many other companies, are going to be surprised by competition which they didn't expect.

Its just a joke, sometimes I change the names of people I quote. Hence the Unreasonable tag! I did it to myself as well, see?

Sony was both reasonable and unreasonable. There are many reasons for or against doing what they were doing, like losing full control over part of their platform. I think Microsoft was more protecting Windows from a potential disrupter gaining ground in the living room than the Direct X standard which is a much smaller part of the whole. The dreamcast had Microsofts software inside, which enabled them to offer online before anyone else and develop their games faster, hence part of the reason why they could develop so many games so quickly.

PM sent.

So the MS Mafia is onto MikeB or something? Why is MikeB so special, alot of you who want him banned usually post 'Anti-Sony' stuff, and dont deny it.

It works both ways

Lol, we don't want him banned for being anti-MS.  Look into him and his threads and you'll make the connection

So you want him banned because he uses dodgy sources and has a financial interest in Sony?
