The Microsoft losses include everything in their Entertainment & Devices division, not just their consoles.  So it's hardly fair to add losses for everything else to the Xbox numbers.  But who are we kidding, this was just an attempt by some fanboy to spin numbers.

I hate jumping into the middle of pointless arguements, but this $10B loss on the XBox is a total guess and wrong.  The ED&D division contains tons of product that are not XBox related.  We have absolutely no idea how much MS lost/made on the original XBox or 360.

From their recent quarterly earnings:

Entertainment and Devices Division (“EDD”) offerings include the Xbox 360 platform (which includes the Microsoft Xbox 360 video game console system, Xbox 360 video games, Xbox Live, and Xbox 360 accessories), the Zune digital music and entertainment platform, PC software games, online games and services, Mediaroom (our Internet protocol television software), the Surface computing platform, mobile and embedded device platforms, and other devices. EDD leads the development efforts for our line of consumer software and hardware products including application software for Apple’s Macintosh computers and Microsoft PC hardware products, and is responsible for all retail sales and marketing for Microsoft Office and the Windows operating systems.

All Zune losses, PC games, all Mac office sales and all retail sales of Office and Windows are included in that EDD number.  XBox is only a fraction of EDD revenue.

I was expecting something usable like earnings from one of the years listed in the above chart.

 

MS does not break down earning for products in EDD.  It is impossible to tell how much any product in the division made or lost.

I just wrote all momentum, that is left for PS3 for next 1,5-2 years. IF all this won`t help, then i don`t see, what else could.
But i`m pretty much sure, that all this will be enough, unless something unpredictable(like recession This time) happens.

I think you read the title of the OP and inferred this thread was about something it is not.

There is a big difference between Sony not being in trouble, and Sony beating the Wii with a pricecut.

 

Sony is in trouble though, believe it or not, financially.
